Smithfield still has some that are open. One next to posh hotel, something like Crown and Goose is a bit posh but ale is ok. Faringdon is en route South. Under the market itself there is another where you get a right meat feast.

Angel has the Wetherspoons, Red Lion or similar, that will be open at 8. Hardly high class but then drinking at 8 isn't reply either?

However, best bet is heading down to Druid St for the Saturday morning brewery open days. The walk from London Bridge to Bermondsey isn't for chavs as the ale prices aren't for the faint hearted. However, there are 5 breweries under the rail arches, some great street food (I've been away from Sheffield a while!) and the birds come out to play after a while...

Perfect prematch prep, though take care toward the end as there are some rough Millwall outside glowering type boozers that pride themselves on maintaining their air conditioners remaining intact...
