I have not a clue....I'm just resigned to the fact where shite and 1 day in the near future lady luck will look down us and feel sorry for us and our long suffering supporters and give us that little bit of game changing luck.

You were in the Norfolk at the bottom of Dixon Lane early this morning corky.

Do you honestly think that if Sheffield United had that exact set of players, management and coaching staff, tea lady, kit man and everything, that they'd/we'd have gone up? Of course they wouldn't. Burton Albion don't play in front of 20,000 expectant, demanding fans every week. There is no pressure to play for Burton Albion, who are punching way above their weight with personal best after personal best. They are freerolling, which is why average players can achieve what they achieve. Put those same average players into a pressure cooker environment and see what happens.

I don't hold with abusing our own players etc, but that's another it's the fans fault argument and I don't hold with that either. Also there were only 8000 against Crewe last week so, no I can't go along with that. Repeating summat I just said on another thread, but a win, even a nervy one, against Crewe could have kickstarted our season.

I didn't quite blame the fans.

Do you not think that it would be harder for you, mentally, to play in front of 100,000 than in front of 1? You wouldn't feel extra pressure, internally, regardless of anything specific the fans might say or do?

The Crewe match was only one game - that could have been a one-off blip. We're talking about an entire 46 game (plus) season.

I'd be up for that, the only problem is I'm skint and I wouldn't have a clue what I'm doing.
Saying that it didn't stop our Prince.

Of course I do yes but it's a fact that we have a big crowd so they have to be able to at some point. I don't hold with abusing players at all and I don't hold with booing during a game. Often managers say they accept it at the end of each half, but personally I don't do that either.

Chris Wilder has said time and again about needing players of the right mental strength to play in a place like this, but at the same time if they can string some results together that should come.

Like Duffy and Hussy for example?

Unless Sean Bean and a few other very wealthy fans fancy getting on board, it could never happen. Also, I disagree that the fans know what's best for the club. Many of McCabe's failings have been a result of listening to the most vociferous, fickle, knee-jerk supporters amongst us. It needs somebody more measured who actually has some clue as to how to run a football club.

I doubt we have that many wealthy fans. Sean Bean and Joe Elliott being the only two I can think of who could potentially throw in millions. I have no idea of Beano's worth, but he has a few expensive divorce settlements to take care of. Joe certainly must be worth a few bob but he's never seen at games, and I doubt his interest is high enough to get involved (or in other words chuck money away)

In the overall scheme of football finance them two haven't a pot to piss in .

Also divorce cost you a lot of dosh.

The only way forward is for McCabe to have real investment from chineses contacts . Also the McCabe idea of China , Hungry and Australia wasn't that madcap.

He was at this one.

... for the fans to buy out McCabe and take control of our club.

Once bought nominate a leader, who sets up a board.

Give the fans a voice, take back the club and get out this sodding league.

As the thread maker of the "One armed fan" said it's not bad luck, it's bad choices, let's end them, surely the fans know what's best for the club?

It's obviously not gonna get fixed by changing the manager, we tried every option under the sun, time to change the structure of the club.

Charles Clegg is probably rolling in his grave seeing what is going on, it's only getting worse.

It's time people, check the back of the sofa for money and take your club back.
think its impossible for 20k fans to cover the 5 m a year loss, never mind move forward and buy players
be 250 quid for every fan just to cover that , a family man with 2 kids forking out a grand a year to just stay afloat ,,,, nah wont happen

I think most blades put in a bigger chunk of their personal income each year than than the prince and King kev. Yes it isn't millions but still as a % of 'wealth' and earnings I dare guess it would rival what they're putting in if not exceed it. I doubt that very much

Great idea but we would have to be like a fc man utd...............we could play in graves park with the 1989 away kit........ £2 to watch, and £2 subs ........climb up the leagues in no time

What's more likely to happen is that if we see that we've regressed even further by the season's end, a pressure group will be formed to respectfully encourage the McCabe family to put the club up for sale at an attractive and fair price. I reckon it's only a matter of time before something like this happens, unless McCabe et al suddenly figure out how to stop running us into the ground.

Reading through this thread it becomes increasingly clear that there still seems to be a limited view that all it would take to run a club would be several tens of millions.

My understanding of the modern game, and we're talking about an underachieving club like the Blades, is that whatever problems lay in wait, it would require a dedicated mindset, possibly designed for those drawn towards a vanity project (and please let's not get started on what that might constitute), and backed by a bank balance that expects the bad times many times over long before any success comes our way. The upside is that we have a set of basics in place, fan-base, ground and training facilities etc, but that these would only act as a framework in which the potential owner would set about ensuring that the past, although learnt from, isn't repeated in terms of lacklustre and third-rate appointments. Tough times ahead for anyone willing to embrace this great club of ours, and of course whether Kev and the Prince would be prepared to move aside and let someone else take control of the steering wheel and, hopefully, set course for better times ahead. Some of us are even behind on the lottery money syndicate , owing 3 weeks or more . Fans Forum great , fans owning blades . No chance .

Let's just give McCabe some credit . Thank fuck he continues to bail us out . He got us in this shit , he can get us out of it . Spending more money to keep us afloat and head above water . Tough shit Kev.

Google says Bean is worth $20m and Elliott $70m so they couldn't even club together and pay the transfer fee for Paul Pogba!

as a roll model, FCUM are brilliant, but maybe for a phoenix club and not an existing one

to be fair if I had 20 m dont think id waste a million , one twentieth of my money on a such a venture
anyone who puts money into football must be prone to lapses of sanity

There's no doubt McCabe saw, and still does, the Blades as a business venture, supporter or not. It's cost him and I'd guess it's going to cost him some more before he goes. But it was a business venture. I saw someone pointing out the "sacrifices" people made to watch us. Well sorry, it's a lifestyle choice, choosing travelling away rather than buying a new pair of jeans or going out for a meal isn't a sacrifice. It's a choice you make. Nothing more, nothing less.

As for fans running this club, give over. The call is for a football man to run it. Are we going to find that man on here :)

One slight problem.

If we had democracy amongst the fans then would we would have done by and large the same as McCabe? Anyway I'm sure he'd welcome genuine fans to buy him out.
The problem is we don't have enough people willing to gamble their life savings on the club.
Statistically it's not exactly a good investment.

Being United - if we had a democracy we'd be sacking the manager and paying off at least one player after every game we didn't win. Fan ownership of the Blades would be like a footballing Hunger Games ffs.

I wouldn't mind the royalties from the multiple hit albums written and performed by Paul Heaton...

Shame his socialist principles compelled him to share all his royalties equally with the other seventeen-odd members of the Beautiful South.

Is Jaqui Abbott a Blade?
