The slow death that is Sheffield United

I bet you thought you were going to be doing a lot less deflecting for McCabe this Season ... :)

You are putting more effort in for him than any of his Players are .... to date anyway

Pointing out bullshit isn't defending McCabe. You should have a look at what I've actually said about his tenure rather than pigeonholing me because I don't run around the forum with a flaming torch and a pitchfork. It is possible to point out his many failings at this club without calling him a thief or a cunt, for some on a daily basis.

I said at the start of the summer, it's same owd, same owd. We've had a few bodies come in - Fleck, Hussey, Clarke, O'Connell ought to better us, but that would be to assume that the rest of the side was settled. It isn't! They've been much needed additions, but the rest of the side now needs adddressing; GK, RCB, CM, wingers... we look shit because we're lacking a lot. Wilder is going to need time to put it right - and backing. He's done an awful lot in the summer, but he's had too - because there's an awful lot that needs putting right. He's essentially trying to undo a disastrous cycle of sack a manager, trim the squad, demand promotion, sign journeymen and wasters, fail at promotion, sack a manager, trim the squad, demand promotion, sign journeymen and wasters, fail at promotion, sack a manager, trim the squad, demand promotion, sign journeymen and wasters, fail at promotion, sack a manager, trim the squad, demand promotion, sign journeymen and wasters, fail at promotion...

He's done well to get those bodies in that he has, because Clarke and O'connell aside, he's clearly been scrapping on a shoestring..!!

What annoys me most of all with McCabe is that because he has put so much in he seems to think we should al be grateful. I realise the club would be totally screwed if just walked out now as he owns the ground and we owe him millions BUT the only reason he's lost so much money is due to his own negligence. Constantly repeating the same bad decisions and clearly having no idea how to turn it around.

I don't think he wants United to stay at this level, he just wants promotion in the cheapest manner possible. If we did go up we would be scraping around for free transfers and cast offs again. We would be in the same market as Burton Albion which is outrageous for a club like ours. We have been, and still are, being ran like we are an average third tier club and surprise, surprise that what we are. At best

I read with amazement on another thread about how much ambition he apparently has because he wants us to do well.

He'll always have misguided cheerleaders.

With 19K crowds it may only cost McC a couple of million to run the club which could be recovered with a couple of player sales.

Promotion could cost him over ten million a season.

No brainier, stay in the 3rd whilst ever the crowds keep coming.
Maybe it's time for a co-ordinated 'stay away' from the next home game???

The problem with that is, he's got the money already for 13000 of us.
He has, but still be an impressive statement from the fans, as Gary annouces the Official Attendence of 13,000 to Bert sat in the South Stand

We can still support the Local Businesses and Pubs by turning out, just not entering the Ground

That made me laugh!

Maybe it's an overreaction after the worst loss I think I've ever seen, but it just feels like absolutely everything is going against us;

- A mish-mash squad of previous managers' expensive fodder, some of whom have been transfer listed and still haven't been sniffed around at
- A hard to shake reputation with agents for paying well over the odds for average players, which has forced us to look elsewhere on occasion
- Having to shop in the bargain basement due to paying large compensation sums to failed managers and the board not wanting to cough up extra
- Frustration turning to booing home players and fisticuffs in the stands
- Teams not being even remotely scared of playing Sheffield United; possibly even looking forward to it
- A ghost and a dodgy sales rep for owners

It is, as has been said, an omnishambles. I didn't want to be at the Lane last night after 15-20 minutes, I really didn't.

My senses aren't being filled up; they're being numbed.

No one should feel grateful to McCabe just because he's put money in. It's a business at the end of the day; McCabe has invested money but he's pissed it up against a wall due to his and the board's monumentally stupid decisions over the past few years.
Exactly. McCabe has not invested from any altruistic motive: he is driven by profit and, now, loss minimalisation. God help the Blades.

We have failed to cross the line on numerous occasions. Will this week be any different? Are these 3 rumours actually buy rumours?

Maybe some foundation to them if Sky are saying it, but they are just offers. Doesn't mean to say we have / will meet the valuations.

Don't know why every fuckers moanin. Your wanted this, moaned about Clough then moaned about Adkins. What did ya expect? Pep or fuckin klopp to come in. Now we've got fuckin wilder. Who? Chris fuckin wilder. Hope ya happy wi ya sens.

Wow Kev, bit strong mate

Alan Ball said that after we beat Everton 2-1 in the FA Cup in January 1970
Respect! I was guessing but I remember him saying it very clearly and it incensed me at the time. I thought it was an insult - which it was at the time. Had we ever been in the 3rd tier of English football when he said that? I honestly don't know but I don't think so?

But now it's come true. I've followed my team for several years now at this level, in the 80's and over the past 5 seasons. It's really not acceptable.

Look at the club's who've gone up whilst we've been sat here darning our socks!

What reason is there why this could ever happen? The answer isn't "bad luck" even though Uncle Kev wants us to believe it.

He's an asset stripping amiable old fool who, put bluntly, has been fucking us over for years now.

Happier than I am with the use of "your" for "you", "ya" for "you're" and "wi" for "with", that's for sure.

their owner was prepared to bring in a foreign manager and radically shake the club up, he thought 'outside the box'............

You do realise that if we tried something like that, with our luck, an appointment of an unknown foreign manager would result in us having someone like Egil Olsen (Wimbledon) or Alain Perrin (Portsmouth) as opposed to someone who actually knows something about football.
