The players brought in so far by Wilder have shown to be very poor and i would not trust him to bring in anyone who would improve things after the abysmal showing so far.
Sometimes you get the feeling that "This aint going to work" and Wilder should be binned before anymore damage is done.
Is he out of his depth? Sadly i think he is.

Is he out of his depth? Has McCabe told him to buy a cheap average side to save him money?

Fucking hell. The blokes inherited a rotting corpse. Give him a little time to put things right

The problem is that his signings are as bad if not worse than the players we have got rid of. Is Wilson an improvement on Collins? Hussey better that McEveley?

Well nobody can say you didn't give him a fair chance

He's brought in players proven at this level we are three games in FFS!!

Most of his signings look shite so far - and therefore fit in well with most of our other players.

Equally baffling is his players don't suit his style of player. If you go direct - as we do - pace up front is vital and we don't have any.

I still think it's too early to write him off completely. He dropped a clanger giving Billy the armband and that decision needs rectifying.
He got off to a slow start at Northampton and that worked out ok in the end.

Our problems run deeper than any manager yet it is hard to define exactly what is causing this season after season.

The board don't know a thing about football yet think they do and are too arrogant to get a 'football man' involved. I think that's about it.

My post on Tuesday was scoffed at by some but now he's saying his signings are lacking character . Did he not know all this before he signed them? Sorry, but i don't trust his judgement. Ok, only 4 games in but it's looking too much like the David Weir fiasco.

Except David Weir had never managed a game before becoming our manager. Wilder has two promotions on his CV.

Very true - but it does at least set him apart from Weir, and suggests he might have the foggiest idea about how to fix the poor start we've had.

And you sir are braindead. Check Alex fergusons record in his first few months in charge at man Utd, it was abysmal. Things don't happen overnight, he's inherited a squad of shit and a cunt of a chairman. Give him time, 3 games and you're writing him off already??

Yes let's go with what we have, if we have to replace the manager there is always the loan window.....

.....oh hang on!

Ive been impressed with his signings to date (on paper)He seems to have selected them to fit the style he wants to play and within Budget.he has a high tempo style of play in mind the Long ball is not what he wants, here is the but.

Hussey, and Wilson in particular are not used to the bigger crowds and cant handle the pressure, I dont think CW anticipated this. I think the long ball is the result of the players not being able to handle pressure properly and when in possession they just want it as far away as possible.

I Thought at Bolton Wilson looked good as did Hussey apart from the fact Hussey could put a decent cross in. There was also a noticeable confidence issue between defence and Long, player were facing Long in possession and choosing to hook it over their shoulders at Bolton instead of going back to Long, I think with the addition of a GK will calm the defence and we will start to see the style of play CW wants, hopefully Morsy will come in and free up Fleck to push on a little more and unlock a few more doors.

I recall CW fuming after Crewe saying people weren't following instructions Id say he was referring to the long ball instead of playing football

But are they lucky promotions like Adkins' four lucky promotions? ;)

At the moment, it's reminding me of Clough's signings to be honest. I'm looking at 2 out of 8 being any good, at this moment.

Wilson, Hussey, Wright are hardly inspiring confidence.

Early days but the new recruits to be fair have been bobar up to now. Saying that the old recruits have been even worse but at least we were expecting that.

You think Clarke and Fleck are poor?

Thinking of long ball ,Wilder will recall his teammates Deane and Agana.
Aged 21 and 2t at start of 1989 90.
Why give us two strikers over 30 when even the young players have no pace?

To be fair Wilder has said he wants a fast striker.

Then again he said there would be no more embarrassments like Scunny at home last year when he was appointed.

Hmmm let me see........last 3 managers all with promotions on their c.v. and yet struggle at BDTBL. What could posesubly be the common denominator? Oh, I think I have a wacky amd out there suggestion.........Sheffield United! By SUFC, I mean the hierarchy that purport to be 'Blades' and will support the manager and don't forget we have game chamging investment err, for when we are in the Championship!

Give the guy a break. We have got what we have got and the players are not doing on the pitch what he wants but, and it's a big but granted, they will. He might have got 7 players in but the budget has always been tight. It's allegedly been cut for this season so he has even less tools to work with than the last two managers. We are currently a laughing stock and to xhange again will mean a rebuild, more money spent, more xhanges of style and more time taken. CW HAS to be given more time or the club will spiral and that will only go one way anyway.

Any talk of a new manager is frankly ridiculous. Nothing more needs to be said.

However, let's look at the players signed, and the remit he had regarding signings when he came in.

Reduced budget.....though I have no doubt still a very competitive budget for L1.
He has had to bring in players to fit the budget, and try to get rid of several players outside it. Hammond has been paid up, other players wasting money have gone and it seems he is getting rid of Brayford next. And don't forget he still has a fair few sat in the transfer list who he wants out. A huge transformation.

Contemplate too, that NO manager has 100% success rate when it comes to signings, some will always fail to work out for whatever reason.
Hussey- so far looked shaky, but also deliver d some decent crosses and set pieces. Something we have been woeful at for several years. Part of an all new back four so will need time to gel.

O'Connell and Wilson have ability, they are the right age, they are a good build and size so fit exactly what is fans have been wanting. But they will make errors....and they need help from their keeper and midfield.

Fleck- very good footballer, but needs help in there.

Duffy- player in L1 team of the season. Small, tricky and creative we thought, but so far fsiled to really be impactive, and consistent. But creative players rarely are consistent.

Clarke- again, a player fans have wanted for a while in L1...we finally got him. Quick, strong, hard working and will score goals once he settles.

Wright....not played. Back up player.

So, have his signings been so bad? What could we have got in better, that wasn't demanding money on the scale we have blown in the past? We need to allow this lot to settle, and in early days two of our worst performers have been Done and Sharp.
But it's a new side, and new tactics, with huge pressures on top.
When the new keeper arrives, and we then need a new right back, as well as more pace up front and someone to play with Fleck...it will be pretty much a full team he's brought in.

I think wilder is struggling with how he thinks he should act when on the sidelines, because what you're seeing (a 'mannequin) on the touch line isn't him. He's just not comfortable with being on the sideline, or that's what it appears to me.

He needs to have a couple of whiskeys before entering the pitch because at this moment he's stuck in headlights and not changing thinks quickly, actually he's not doing anything when things go wrong.

He could get the fans going as much as the players and if you asked me what my number one disappointment of the season, it would be this.
