Incoming? Sam Morsy

For some reason regards Morsy I keep having flashbacks to the Brian Howard signing.

On the radio all the Barnsley fans used to rave about Howard being a world beater.
On the radio all the Chezzie fans used to rave about Morsey being a world beater.

There were loads of rumours that we were going to be really ambitious by signing local star Howard.
There's loads of rumours that we're going to show big ambition and push the boat out signing Morsey.

Howard couldn't live up to the high expectation and was a flop at BDTBL.

Wonder what will happen with Morsey if he comes?

We were a step up for Howard
If anything we're a step down for Morsy!

Howard spent his time at the Lane watching the ball sail over his head most of the time; Leon Brittain was another. Nowt wrong with route one so long as you have the right players in the system.

I just think he's being built up to be a lot better than he actually is, said the same about Brayford.

Only seen him play a couple of times and despite others thinking he ran the games against us, I thought he was just another run of the mill league one player. And he's short.

If Basham, bless him, wasn't so ineffective with or without the ball I think he would be the perfect partner to Fleck due to his size and workrate. I don't think Morsy is.

You may be right. I said similar things when we signed Fleck. Two games on and all I can say is I hope he gets better than I've seen so far.

Basham is a taller, slightly more effective Montgomery. That is, by the way, as far from a compliment as is humanly possible.

I'm not usually a believer in players needing someone beside them as a foil but I think if Fleck had a better Basham with him in midfield he'd be tremendous.

Not convinced that Morsy is it, the boring long thread bastard.

I do hope so. I just expected much better from what I heard on here, by comparison with the verdict of my own eyes. I need to develop a little more self-confidence and go with the latter more often. By contrast, I like what I've seen of Morsy more than Fleck. I'm not saying Fleck is rubbish by the way but he's not in the 'best in the league' class I heard on here.

Still, early days I accept, the silly Fleckers may yet be right... :)
 



Was watching the video, and noticed that Morsy said that keeping the ball on the floor and playing it around is his style of football.
From what I saw on Saturday, we didn't keep it on the floor at all.

It's the style of football for all the best players the game has ever known. The great Brian Clough pointed out that if God had wanted the game played in the sky he'd have put grass up there. You and I support the only club who have a significant number of fans stuck in the last century....but one. Pop round and despair with me when you have a minute...

The two games we tried to get the ball on the floor was Bolton and Crewe and I'd say Fleck was comfortably our best player, the game where we continued to go long which was on Saturday against Rochdale he hardly got a touch, now unless we get the ball on the floor then there is no point in Fleck playing. This brings me onto Morsy, he also likes the ball on the floor so if we were to bring him in would we then have to look at our strike force plus the whole set-up and change things around? I'm praying Morsy is coming in because I won't be able to put up with Saturdays' display too much this season, it was fucking awful mate. Try not to criticise Fleck to much as I think he'll be a cracking signing for us, you little Flecker. ;)
