For people that still believe we are signing Sam Morsy, the Wigan manager has now confirmed that he is part of his plans and he would only sell Morsy for alot of money if he were to consider it. Also for these rumours saying we have put bids in for him for about 250k are just complete lies and ridiculous, he is worth alot more than that plus he only signed for them in January so he will still have alot of time left on his contract for Wigan. Move on now, have a nice day. utb.

Are you aware Wigan are apparently considering a move for Brayford?
I saw that from Alan Nixon, we need to keep Brayford, he is a vital player and our fans love him, if we sell him we have no chance of getting a better replacement for him because he is the best right back in the league, but im not going to believe it anyway, i think Alan Nixon started the Morsy rumour on twitter and turns out that was all wrong, no reason to believe the Brayford one until there is real proof.

Entitled to your opinion but there was definitely something in the Morsy interest at the time Nixon reported it.

Brayford is undoubtedly a good player on his day and most would be sorry to see him go but perhaps he's too good a player for us at the moment. What I mean by that is that if we were in the Champ and had Champ level quality througout the squad he'd be fantastic but perhaps the proceeds and his salary could be put to better use while we remain in L1. A decent replacement (e.g. Mark Little) would be a cheaper alternative and would free up £££ to fill other priority areas i.e. GK, LB, LM, CB, CM.

Brayford is perhaps a luxury we can no longer afford in L1...

Getting any sort of fee plus Morsy for Brayford and getting him off the wage bill completely would be a fantastic bit of business.

Morsy would be more important to us and more of an asset than Brayford for a start.

Then we could possibly bring in more players with any money we get, and there'd be considerably more space on the wage bill.

Get good money for Adams too and we could easily build a top L1 team.

We would need to replace Brayford though, but Basham would be fine at right back in the meantime.

Brayford's crossing is poor. It's the only thing he really really needs to improve on this season

Good point, i highly doubt it but if Wigan do offer us Morsy for Brayford plus quite abit of money added on it could be a good deal, but like i say it would be sad to see him go because most of our fans love him and his beard and a good enough replacement might be tough to get but if the offer is good enough i wouldnt really mind as long as it is for the better.

it wouldn't be the worst deal.however it would have to happen very soon.
my questions would be
1. With the season almost here would we have the time to spend the money and fill the gaps that would make this move worthwhile?
2. It seems Wigan were already ok with morsy leaving and he turned the move down.why would us sending one of our best players the other way convince him were a club worth coming to?

Well we still have the emergency loan window.....oh wait...

1. Yes. Surely CW has considered the option of Brayford being sold and has a few potential replacements lined up. He's our highest earner and a bit of a burden on the wage bill so selling him to raise money had to be something the club has discussed. It's not like someone has offered us £2m for Sharp out of the blue
2. Money.

You are probably correct targets may have been identified but as we well know that doesn't mean we could get these players quickly. Also I believe the new system of signing players won't allow us to just chuck money at someone to sign.

No but we've got Freeman as cover and a month before the window to sort it out. If you're saying that other clubs might take advantage of us being short in that position and the end of the window looming, you could be right.
I wouldn't mind a loan tbf, from a decent PL club. It's only right back and none of them can defend these days so go for some kid who's lethal going forward, like a young Walker. Attacking right backs are like number tens these days, most clubs have got loads of them.

We seem to do ok finding right backs don't we.Id like the same, young,Pacey youngster but unless we strengthen big our back four looks rather weak.

I'll be very disappointed if we don't land a dominant CH before the window closes.

It's clear CW wanted one or we wouldn't have tried to get MacFadz so to end up without one would be a failure, in my opinion.

I'm a little concerned that we were trialling some young CH the other night and haven't been linked with any other experienced CHs. It gives the impression that we thought MacFadz was a certainty and now we've lost out haven't got a feasible back up. Hope I'm wrong.

My thoughts exactly. I know not everything gets reported but there seems to be a lack of signs were going for a CH the calibre of mcfadzean or even the calibre Imo of our other signings.

You sir are a liar!!!!!
Sammon NEVER had a decent game for us, he falls into the Hammond/Woolford specialist area........UTTER SHITE!
As much as I'd like to agree with you he was outstanding away to Peterborough. 4 of us walked out of the ground thinking Sammon and Sharp were going to crucify this league. Instead we all ended up wanting to crucify Sammon!

Tend to agree with this, Wilson, O'Connell and Wright don't sound as though they are that type of centre half, and unless Wilder brings someone in soonish we're going to have the same problems that we've had over the last 2 seasons. On the plus side at least CW knows we need a big dominant centre half, which the previous 2 managers seemed oblivious too. Typical that Clough now decides he needs a player like McFadzean, two years too late and while he's at a different club.

For me Wilder has sorted only 1 of 3 (Clarke) of the major problems down the spine of the team. It's a start I suppose but there's still no getting away from the fact we still desperately need a big dominant centre half and a midfield general. It's a worry for me that he might be earmarking Basham for the midfield role.
