It's easy to see why on first glance at certain times some people would see Bladesmad as a place over run with 'dickheads' - and there was a fair share, but the reality is that there were a lot of quality posters on there and it was for quite a long time by far and away the busiest, most popular Blades forum - and I'm in a better position than most to comment.

This site beats it hands down in terms of usability though, and always has I suppose. The only thing Footymad had over it from that point of view was that it was a wider network where you could go onto other club's boards, but since they shot themselves in the foot that benefit has disappeared because nobody uses it anymore - there are only a small handful of boards that still get traffic. There's no way back for Bladesmad now, this site is now far too established, it's like our Owlstalk. And good riddance, I'm glad Footymad will no longer be able to make a profit.
It was always slightly galling that they made money out of what we wrote for free. On here, Foxy and Linz do it for the love of it and the Blades so I'd be happy if they made money, although I understand they don't.

Yeah, Blades Mad had a golden era, where it was user firendly(ish), the posters were genuine - whatever their opinion - and you could have decent conversations/debate.

However, what that golden period did was bring more users - which resulted in fake accounts and wind up merchants this then diluted the plus points. Sadly, Footymad saw the increase in traffic and tried to milk it, resulting in a truly awful site.

I very rarely read it these days, never mind log in. But on the plus side, we now seem to have a central forum and thanks to Foxy/Linz is far better regulated, so the chances of getting morons registered, or staying registered, is minimal. (How do you manage it Barney ?! ;))

Is this the rumour section .Sam morsey remember him .

You're quite right mate, but sadly its all gone a bit quiet other than yesterdays seemingly negative tweets about him turning us down! Here's hoping that turns out to be rubbish.

wishful thinking alert!

The good news is that whether we sign Morsy or not, Wilder has recognised that the midfield we currently have needs another player of quality. It seems just a matter of time before we see another addition there and hopefully a left winger - in my view. If the budget is tight then I think we could avoid signing another centre half as we already have O'Connell and Wilson as the preferred two with Wright and if required Basham as back up. We don't have one out and out left winger though and Adams is probably leaving anyway.

I'm not having a go at you but this really pisses me off. We signed Wilson as a back up, which is fine, but now we're talking about him being first choice, which probably isn't fine. By chasing MacFadz CW has made it clear he wants another CH so it's up to the club to make sure he gets one.

I appreciate the financial situation but if no one meets our valuation for Che then maybe the owners could 'sub' Wilder what we need. I.e. spend the money now on the basis that when we sell Che, CW gets nowt, or very little, because he's already spent it. (We can't do director loans because of SCMP, we'd have to give it to him and take it out again, I think).

No worries mate. I guess Wilder did sign Wilson as a back up, but then he signed Wright, who for me is definitely (I'll resist the temptation to write definitely in capitals!) a back up. What I'm trying to say is that I personally think we have greater limitations in other positions than centre half and maybe just wait for the first few weeks of the season to see how Wilson fares up. My view is that we've shifted no one from the transfer list other than paying off Hammond and Wilder stated this week that there's been no interest. If Wilder is under financial limitations with his budget, due to having to carry the transfer listed players till at least January, then I think centre half isn't as important a need (now) as left wing where we don't have one player who is a winger or a left sided midfielder. Adams has played there but never with distinction on a consistent basis for me. He cuts inside all the time and shoots (rarely scoring) where as I'd like to see him get to the byline more and be less predictable than he is at left wing. I think he's actually looked better on the right but we have Duffy earmarked for there. Done has also featured there and we all know its not his best position.

As for centre mid I really don't think we'll get the best out of Fleck, or Basham for that matter, with those two as a partnership. Fleck from what I can gather, sits there and tries to dictate and Basham tries, but in my view fails to be the enforcer, because he's too slow to move around the pitch. Others disagree there I'm sure but that's why I'd love Morsy, or someone else with a terrific engine, to get all over the place and break things up and allow Fleck to dictate when he gets the ball. Of course its still pre-season only and only time will tell on every position, as to whether we've got it right this summer with our recruitment.

If we play 4231 then Che, IMHO, is ideal on either side or even down the middle of a three.
But Clarke adds another dimension and may thrive on traditional wingers getting to the byeline and crossing.
So, basically, I'm not sure.

If we play 4-2-3-1 then presumably we'd have Sharp up top and Clarke, Adams and Duffy behind? ITs Clarke coming that makes me think we're going 4-4-2 and as you say the need for wingers. If only Colin Morris was 25!

Exactly. And if we play 442 we don't have a sitting CM to protect the defence so the CHs have to be very good and capable of dealing with one on ones. And we're short of a CM because Basham just isn't good enough to play 442 regularly.

"Sitting CM" alert. Tufty says it's bollocks. It 'does his head in'.

A lot of their stuff does usually seem right, they called the Armand Traore signing.

Although agreeing a fee is not the same signing him.
Traore's signed for the pigs? Oh no, they don't play in blue and white stripes anymore.
