Difficult to understand from the differing and sometimes contradicting snippets where the Morsy deal broke down:

- Wigan changing their mind over selling the player
- Morsy turning the move down (wages and/or drop to L1)
- Utd not meeting required fee or willing to meet Morsy's wage demands.

Whilst he is undoubtedly a good player and would certainly have improved Utd's midfield, the lack of combined height of him and Fleck in the middle (unless Basham would be in there as well) was a nagging concern.

Either way, if a tripartite agreement can't be reached, the club should move on to other targets straight away, just as they did when the deals for Tafazolli and Holmes didn't work out.

Well I'm not going to lose sleep over Morsy.

Let's see if we can find a young lad, top quality player on loan from the premier league who once here decides he loves playing and can't wait a few years to get the chance of a game with his premier league club so wants to stay permanently. We might just then pick up a quality side capable of going through the leagues.

Also, some players get game time in order to attract scouts that might be in the game, at the same time seeing if they still fit in.

Sounds more or less like a wages issue, where Morsy probably wants more than he is on to drop down which is a no no with our new boss.
It's unlikely to be a wage issue as our
Wages last season were higher than Wigan,so unless he got a pay rise on the back of promotion That is not likely to be the reason
Wigan were interested in Adams and maybe wanted a trade off!.valuation of Adams in such a deal could be the problem as we are playing. hardball regarding Adams (price). I think the issue Wigan will face is that Adams wants to move back to be close to his family in Coventry, so I believe wants Birmingham.

I know a player who plays for a championship club, and briefly discussed the Morsy deal with him yesterday, as he has a soft spot for the blades.

He said that, while having no connections to Wigan or Morsy, he would be amazed if he signed in this window. He reckoned that most players who were a "key part" of a promoted team, would want to test the waters at least in their new division. Despite Wigan's new midfield recruits, his feeling was that most footballers are eternally optimistic/stupid and have confidence that they will break into a side.

He seemed to think (and I tend to agree) that if Morsy goes anywhere (L1 or another CH club) that it would be in January after a crack at the Wigan 1st team.

I'd agree with that as well, but I also think he could leave before the end of this window, but if he did it would be a loan until January so he still has a chance of playing in the Championship this season.

Lads just spoke to my dad about this. I can't say what he does but i can say he knows absolutely nothing about football. He told me this morning he doesn't even know who Sam Morsy is, nevermind if he's signing for Sheffield united. Ill keep you updated.

Finally someone with some reliable info haha :D

I sense that this is a sly dig at my above wannabe ITK post, however it made me laugh out loud, so I'll let it slide ;)

didn't think you were claiming to be ITK or deserving of a dig just for passing on an opinion of a player who is in that division.

Is Sam morsy as good as Nathan Byrne or Eoin coyle or any of the other lower leagues players this message board has fixated on for months on end before they sign for someone else and disappear from public view

Byrne and Doyle (I assume you mean Doyle) were very good performers at this level and earned moves to the Championship where they are squad players. Anyone would think by your description that they had Lee Morris style falls from grace.

BM's pretty much finished now.

Posted a thread on there yesterday and it appears the last few are also fed up and are coming over.

Real joke the way the mod's and FM have let it get that way.

Shame because it was a decent site.

Did you post under the same username? I don’t remember you on Blades Mad?

It's scandalous what they've done to that forum since the 2014 Christmas 'upgrade' Barney, although it's not the Blades Mods fault. They've left except for Bulmer and he's as fed up as the rest, he's nothing to do with the network.

I've been a member on here for 7 years and I've read it every day, but only I've only posted occasionally because basically I couldn't be arsed to post on two forums, but enough is enough. They've had so many chances but the stupid bloody Ads and the idiots running it have finally killed it off.

There's about a dozen hardy regulars still left all totally peed off with the ADs and performance, so the answer from the guy who oversees it for the FM network has to finally come out of hiding and give everybody a wrap on the knuckles for posting off topic on the main board. I tell you, you couldn't make it up. :D

Who’s left over there then Gray?

thought you said delicate flower
I suffered don givens miss
weve never got near that bad since

we had a ...,kin awful season last season under a spent force

Adkins was possibly the most disappointing manager since Haslam
11 months to bring in players , not a clue
he was lucky he remembered Sharp wa a blade , that apart his selections were abysmal

now Wilders showing its possible to assemble a team with just a bit of guile and nous
got in defenders who can stand up for themselves abd some different options up front
midfield players that pass forward

2 more signings we wont be far off competing

We have been very near to that bad quite a bit over the past few seasons.

I refuse to engage with your “Adkins chose not to bring players in” nonsense any further. As for the ones he did bring in, I dare say Edgar and Baptiste were better than Wright or Wilson will prove to be but I guess we’ll see.

The reason I will look forward to your first engagement with SBT is that he can be a tad confrontational and aggressive in his posting at times and won’t be nearly as polite as I am whilst telling you you’re talking bollocks.

You still havent explained why they are probably dickheads
Just because you think someone is a dickhead doesnt make you a dickhead surely
My interpretation of a dickhead may not be the same as yours
You may have a higher threshold of dickheadedness to what I consider to be a dickhead

I think the point is that if you choose to marginalise an entire group of people as “dickheads” despite the vast variety in the personalities included, that probably makes you a dickhead as it says a lot about your thought process.

This will be his 5th season as first choice/on the bench. Plus 1 season on loan .
I don`t think 6 seasons constitures "raw". I`d say if that`s the descriptive term you choose I`d choose manifestly sub standard.
His is far and away the most important role in the team and we are handicapped before kick off such is his utter lack of basic goalkeeping skills ranging from but not restricted to handling, positioning, decision making, commanding his area and ability to organise his defence.
I don`t for one moment believe any other promotion chasing club in League 1 would play him as first choice.

I agree with your last sentence but think your overall assessment is very harsh. 22 years old is very young in Gk terms. At 22, Kasper Schmeichel was playing in League 2 for Notts County. Now he’s just won the Premier League with Leicester. Joe Hart was playing loan spells at Tranmere and Blackpool. It’s a position where his lack of experience might cost us some points but to write him off at his age would be madness. The reason he’s had 6 seasons in and around first team squads is because he has been so good for his age. Command of his area is definitely an area where he needs to improve but I would also say he is improving in that department. Very dubious on distribution but his shot stopping is good. He’s agile. He’s getting much better at judging the flight of high balls into his box and his handling is improving. He has a good frame for a GK too. Plenty to improve on but a lot of ingredients for a good GK.

Many thanks. I suspect the Italian is unergoing another residential course of intensive psycotherapy. Or he`s sharing Geetarmans cardboard box and currently without internet access.
The distinct absence of porcine WUMs here is very welcome.

You know I had completely forgot all about Tony Soprano’s existence and it took me a moment to figure out what you were on about then. Sad to hear that the credit card scams have led to homelessness for him…..

Totally agree. What is this sudden love in for Sam bloody Morsy? Hes not a bad player and would probably do a good solid job for us next season if he signed but come on, hes hardly worth some of the rhetoric on here today eg. "He'd be an amazing signing"..."best signing of the pre season" etc. Im sure he would do us a job, but lets not forget that whilst he did well for Wigan for half a season he is and will never be a world beater. He was also indifferent for Chessie for the majority of the the first half of the season. If he signs great, if he doesnt...well i for one couldnt give a jot. As the poster above said, if he doesnt want to come to the Lane...then fuk him. Let him go and move on. His loss. Wilder will find some one who does want to be here and who will put their heart and soul into the Blades.

He would certainly have improved us in a position where we could use a better player. Being disappointed at missing out on such a player’s not unreasonable. It’s not sudden either. Posters have been suggesting him for about 18 months I think.

To be fair, we are all (well most) dickheads, because this forum allows us to be anonymous

Not many Dane I still go on for obvious reasons but I've spent more time reading this as its busy and bm is ..... Well dead basically can't see it coming back from this if I'm honest their own fault we warned them constantly and despite posters regularly drifting over here they've done nothing about it. I recognise one or two ex bmadders who have changed usernames, from their posting style and opinions it's up to them if they want own up tho

For Long to progress and iron out the niggles . Do we need just a better higher quality goalkeeping coach .

Just a thought .

Bloke at moment seemed not to do much in improving Turner , Howard , and Long has a distance to go , if he has brain matter between his ears , never mind his age excuse .
