The Trotters beat Birmingham to the signature of the 22-year-old, who has penned a three-and-a-half year deal at The Reebok.

Manager Gary Megson is delighted Cahill, whom he believes has a big future ahead of him in the game, chose The Trotters.

"He is a player I have admired for a long time," he told the club's official website. "It is fantastic news that he has agreed to join Bolton.

"Gary is very talented and at 22 years of age has a very, very bright future ahead of him."

He would have been a great signing for us but i'm afraid he is not worth 5 million quid, especially when you consider that Woodgate has just moved for 7 million.

Dont rate Woodgate that highly anyway

What? Are you daft?

Woodgate if he wasn't a injury liability would have been at CB for England along with Terry or Ferdinand. A fantastic defender with good pace and good in the air.

As said, shame he is a liabilty with injuries.

The only reason Spurs have signed Woodgate is that they were without a Sicknote for ages since Darren Anderton was put out of his misery by the vet.
