...Are we all remaining stubborn and obnoxious (sp) regarding Robbo or are we going to put our hands up and agree he did well today ... Big decision to leave Hulse out completely start Stead & Shelton and not even pick a sub GK ... As well as leaving Hendrie out of XI and Replacing Killa with Morgs - Appreciated it was imperative we rested some in view of Tuesday but he got them playing with the right mentality and in the appropriate style -

Tactically inept?

Despite whatever was said regarding money and new signings, he will have to look at the players here, and he did suggest changes after last Saturday. So, some daring changes, or just protecting a few players for the game against what will probably be a tougher test on Tuesday?

Will players like Shelton be affective against a strong Watford side that defend deep, not alowing him to run onto the ball, where as Hulse will be able to battle and hold it up? Not at all saying this is how it is, just a thought.

more battle with morgan.

not had a sub gk for a few games so not a big decision. changed it back to 4 4 2 and it worked. not 4 5 1 stuff.
id have rested killa tbh too

My point is the players who played suited the game - We knew we would endure a lot of pressure but a pacey attack was fitting and clearly worked

As for resting I appreciate the need and yes Hulse will no doubt play on Tuesday (as I think he should) but Robson came good today (better late than never eh?)

not matter what view you have on him... we played them exactly right today.

he played like warnock would have played. knocked the ball up long for shelton to chase. and it worked.

Oh god yes, it worked a treat, i wasn't trying to put his changes into question, looking back now at that post it looks like I were.

Indeed he deserves the plaudits for making making the changes, after all it's his job or have some of us forgot that? People must think he was hired so we could have a go at him ;) haha when Shelton went off I heard a few grumbles (aimed at Robbo), jesus, Shelton ran his feet into the ground, he needed a rest.

One thing i must say is, how good is Derek Geary!!???

A Sheffield United legend?? Definitely!

And I thought we played more of a passing game than ever today.

I must have been at another match.

state the pitch was in, its hard to play a passing game. ever tried playing passign football on a pitch like that? dosent work.

Gi'or with thee!

We played a lot more football than just hoofing it up to Shelton! Put some good moves together I thought.

The pitch is bad, given. Makes it harder to play on, but they used to play some class football on what used to be like lakes of mud!

Saying all we did was boot it up to Shelton is being very harsh on our performance I think.

yes we did pass it at the back and a few times broke from it. but having watched the game again, we did punt the ball up quite abit. aka warnock tactics.

class football on lakes of mud. please explain, when you try and dribble it gets stuck in the mud, you cant pass as it slows in the mud.

Well I don't agree.

If we play like we did today for the rest of the season I'll be well happy.

It's the best football we've played all season without a doubt.

We mixed it up, played a varied game. A game in which we did play more passing football than i've seen a lot of this season.

We had players with more pace and movement up front, running into space.

We attacked quicker rather than trying to slowly build up play.

Are you saying that no good football was played before the carpet like high tech pitches came?

no, im not saying it was no good football, there was battle and fight and tackles flying in.

passing football dosent entertain me, its pretty boring IMO.

dont agree SF but we played warnock style, with passion, fight, tackles and balls flying up front.

We played with more pace, urgency, team work... classic Warnock traits.

To suggest all we did was hoof it up to Shelton is blatently wrong though imo. Had we tried this, it'd have failed miserably as Shelton needs the ball to feet/to run onto.

must have been superstars then, when ive tried playing the ball short in the mud it down work.

simon stainrod anyone?

I thought we were talking about how we played DESPITE any pitch conditions.

Was it as muddy as you seem to think it was?

yes it was pretty muddy. can see fresh grass seed all over.

is it due to the rain, cos we dont usually have a pitch this bad.

At Kop in first half i thought i saw water fly upwhen ball bounced. Thought the penalty area was muddy, but i was to low down to see the rest of pitch to be honest.

Seems to suggest it there! :)

I totally agree we showed more Warnock traits, but I think we certainly played more football than you give us credit for... against a very good team.

Why is commitment and chasing down JUST to do with Warnock???

I saw it in players and teams in the 60's and 70's.

Yes he got his teams doing it but he's not the only one is he??

lets face it, man citehs defence is poor and there poor away from home.

we played well on the counter, and as i have said we passed it round abit. but we also played it long a fair few times.

we compare them to warnock because he was the last manager and everyone remembers him and its easy to compare too.

I could despise Robo with all my heart and id have to eat my words and says he did right, i think he thought we was gunna get hammered so he thought about mixin the team around a bit as an experiment so to speak, whod have said it would work lol. Martins created chances, especialy sheltons, geary great as always, good squad all round.
