Sort of contradicts the little rumour that was knocking about a couple of weeks ago that he was unhappy that the board were dragging their heels with regards to recruitment.

Article interestingly also says this:

"The story behind Wright’s move to South Yorkshire is a case in point.

He was granted permission to leave on a free transfer after winning promotion from League Two with Oxford United.

But sources close to the process last night told The Star that the defender’s former club tried to renege on that agreement after discovering United were likely to be his next destination.

The talks that followed, and which ended with Wright signing a two-year contract at Bramall Lane, proved a test of both United’s negotiating skills and diplomacy."

Fuck me, we really do just suck everything up like idiots pre season don't we. If I were Wilder and new into a job where I probably got something of a pay rise and knew my employer is watching me, has a bit of a history of a hair trigger what do I do? Do I say the board are supporting or do I say they are fucking me up the arse and I hate them? Whatever the case Wilder is just doing what all managers do, towing the party line.

I believe nothing I am told by football clubs and managers, it is as laced with spin as anything that comes out of Westminster. Lets see where we are by the end of the transfer window, I would guess our wage bill has been lightened so hopefully no need to sell any of our decent players.

Hopefully the board have learned from mistakes of the past but it will take more than one article from Propaganda HQ to convince me. If we don't sell anyone of note this summer then I might start to believe.

You are of course right to be cynical of football boards, particularly United's - but every player has his price.

You and everyone else would jump at £5m for Che, but not 500K - and there is a point in the middle of all that which makes it impossible to reject.

What I would like to see is the club putting sensible figures (ie of benefit to US not the buying party) on players and playing a bit more hard ball. It still remains that every one of our players has their price.

The only lesson learnt by the Chairman and Board members is that we are a league 1 club , not a championship / Premiership club in league 1..

Clough and Adkins were there at the wrong time , as both had no real idea what the lower echelons of the football league is like , and the type of players required .

Wilder is not going to blot his copy book with having a go at the board . He says he is not a PC , PR type of bloke , but he is without even knowing it .

At least we appear to be going in the right direction , but let's see how we go on in the first 10 games .

Adkins and Clough may well have done us a big favour , with wasted money and players . Nice ground , nice training facilities mean absolutely fuck all . Let's wait and see. It's about Wilder , the owners and players finally being in unison.

Impression to date - very good .

Yes I grant you if someone offers £5m for Che then fair enough. But in the real world I still wake up with cold sweats over the utter shambles that was the deal for Harry McGuire. Only at SUFC. And let's remember that wasn't that long ago.

I know we are desperate for success but I would expect CW is receiving cups of cum in the post people are getting that giddy with his every passing word. I'm waiting for the first "he shows passion on the touch line" waste of ink when the season starts.

Results are the only yardstick, the past few years has proved that.

I've sucked nowt up buddy, merely posting Wilders comments

Peeps either believe Wilders quotes, or they don't.

I have my own views and I'll post them when I see fit

Wasn't aimed at you in particular, just the usual fapfest that follows from some whenever a snippet of info comes out the club. Although you say it contradicts the rumour. I'd say if you read enough press articles every football manager contradicts themselves at some point because so many people are reading so much into every word.

That's why I mention see were we are after 10 games .

I don't think anyone is getting giddy , but we are all desperate for success . Supporters have been there so many times , you can't kid a kidder .

No bladesway, the contradiction wasn't a press article, just a rumour posted on BM that Wilder wasn't happy when the slowdown in signings occurred and was apparantly due to the board dragging their heels somewhat. Since then of course things have picked up.

I honestly don't know which story is nearer the truth and which isn't. One thing I am convinced about tho is that we aren't putting bids in for players without some way of funding it and so for me, DCL or Che, or both will depart in due course

Some real passion on this innocuous thread. Routine comments by the manager at this stage of his job particularly when both he and the owner emphasised the need for unity across all sections of the club. The manager has indicated he expects another couple of signings soon and so there should be. We have a squad of 23 with 5 transfer listed and 3 kids in there.

The deal for Harry wasn't great.

The deal for Kyle Walker is the one that brings me out in a cold sweat though. Seriously, I could accept United selling Naughton to Everton or Spurs for the £5-6m being quoted but to then lump Walker - six games into his United career - in for just another £2m? Laughable. Although his form has been up and down at Spurs, they could have easily sold him at any point since for anywhere between £10m and £25m depending on the time and he has played for England regularly too. £2m FFS.

Wasn't the total fee £10,000,000?

Either way, the Walker part of it (whether it was £2m or £3m) was ridiculous. If we'd just held out a year, we'd have got more than the £5-6m we got for Naughton because, as history has since proved, Walker was much the better player. Timing and low fee plus how Walker's career has gone since = worst transfer deal I've seen us make.

Says nothing = he's not being backed.

Says something = he's not being backed and is a yes man

FACT.

I hesitate to comment on Maguire but I suppose July 2014 is recent past and during the prince's time with us at least.

Nothing much to do with this thread today but we did get £2.5m and the lad has not held down a first team place yet. According to Wikipedia he has played just 25 games for Hull in all that time though he played 16 games for Wigan on loan.

To date it could be argued we robbed Hull at that price!! Most of us suspected he would not have the pace to survive in the Premier League but we did think he could cut it in the Championship, not as yet though.

Neither statement owes anything to FACT actually, just gossip, so whether they say something or nothing is totally irrelevant.:)

You do well to allude to the Prince, when he came in Mcabe specifically not only said the much maligned "GCI" but we were also told no longer would we "have to sell our young stars"

A pessimist would say nothing's changed ....
