I'll suggest Chris O'Grady for the 100th time.

Very good target man, good all round game, great attitude, model pro, has scored goals in the past and would do again in L1 in a team providing half decent service.

We could get him for very little now, probably on a two year deal. A three year deal would be OK too, he's got at least another two decent years left in him.

I do agree but the new wage structure might mean he's out of our reach until we shift the shit

I really don't get this fascination of having a target man, who was the last decent one we had? Shipperley? Chief? That's over 10 years ago and you also need the right type of players alongside a target man for him to effective eg pacey players.

As Billy is now captain, it's safe to assume he will play more often than not, so Billy playing off a big man will be like last time with Beattie, a disaster for Billy.

Billy does the target man role, holds the ball up, brings others into play etc. so why do we need a 6ft+ lump up front? Unless we are planning on hoofing it long, which I very much doubt.

It's good to have options. Losing with 15 mins to go? Chuck the target man on, go long. Playing against a more "agricultural" defence than usual? Chuck the big strong target man on, and then let Billy have a go at them for the last bit when they're tired from marking said big strong bloke.

Plenty of options up front, apart from the big target man. I think CW will use any money that we have on 1 more CB, and/or midfielder. The target man may arrive via a loan, when the premier clubs have sorted their squads out.
