It might seem obvious, but successive managers have spent a lot, delivered nothing, and repeated the same failing formula time and again.

As far as I'm concerned he has a budget, he knows what he wants and if either of the above (or anyone else) is sold it will be with his blessing and not some underhand move by the board to deliberately scupper our chances.

I'm very happy with progress so far but then according to some I am the biggest happy clapper on this board

If that happens they have learned nothing and we have gone further backwards with Che. I'm not sure when DCL became the next Jags by the way because I didn't think he was ever all that. Selling him wouldn't particularly bother me but Che would prove we are still in the madhouse.

I'd agree in part but we put out at the first bid (had this discussion a million times now). If anyone thinks £1m is good money for Che considering the money floating around the Premiership then I'm sorry, we ought to be asking £5m+. If you sell good players it's doubly hard to replace them with something as good. Hence we are where we are.

Budgets have to be balanced and whilst Che has promise he will never be a central defender.

I supose that depends on the individual player, we turned down Alan Kelly's transfer request and he still played out of his skin for us for another two years, whereas we did the same with Paul Devlin and he sulked bitched for months until we let him go.

All about the size of the fee and it'll end up somewhere between £250k and £500k. We've got 5 and expect another 3 within a couple of weeks, just as you and I expected last week.

Well at least you've given him more than Nuddy Pete and his Halloween prediction! God knows how this is going to pan out. I predicted storming the league or struggling with nothing in between. It's promising at the moment but I still reckon it might take a year to gel and see who is up for it and who isn't. Big prediction for me is that before 10 games in we have a new keeper.

The two don't have to be mutually excusive. You could easily say "give me 1 more season and then I'll give you your big move". We really don't have to put out to the first carrot dangled our way. And wouldn't you want to get value for our players rather than just peanuts like we normally do.
