. I was present for TC's 'Quality Goal' etc. and thought at the time - and since - that he scuffed his shot and that fooled Day.

I agree, I had a good view of the shot from the BLLT and thought it was a mishit that fooled Mervyn Day but watching the goal again on MOTD it looked a lot better from the camera's view. TC himself has said that the goal wasn't one of the best he has scored and I agree with him but he gave a 10/10 performance in that match (the first of the four 10/10 performance I have seen by a Blade player- the others were TC again against Stoke three weeks later, Sabella in the 2-2 draw at Preston in August 1978 and Tonge v Millwall in August 2002)

Must admit it didn't seem scuffed from the kop and I've seen it a couple of times on TV over the years and it didn't seem scuffed either. Must look closer next time I see it

As I recall, didn't Jags score a screamer against the piggies from way out?? Or am I getting mixed up with Michael Brown???

I scored with a screamer about 40 years ago

for me its between
Brown vs pigs 2003
Dean Saunders vs Port Vale 98
Jags vs Leeds 02
Jags vs Middlesborough

He may have scored with Michael Brown, the world's a versatile place!!

Either of Fjortofts v Portsmouth early on in 97/98.

Was that where he dummied a shot by lifting his foot over the ball? If so yes that was quality.

Got to be Tony Field's, and that was 12 years before I was even born. Never seen anything close to that while I've been alive.

Best I've witnessed must be Browns volley against that lot. Peschisolidos "Oh my god" goal v Forest would also be up there.

Edit: Actually Peschisolidos goal would be a dead heat with Browns.

1st. Brown vs Pigs 2003.

2nd. Jags vs Leeds 2002

3rd. Colin Morris vs Oxford (third division promotion season.. Ask yer dad you young uns)

Was that when we beat them 3-2?

In the bracket of 'for emotion and jubilation' I'd also say Jags goal in last minute v Middlesbrough for first win in Premier League.

I'm too young to have seen Currie and Woody unfortunately but seen some of their goals and would have to agree with Currie's goal v West Ham. From games I've attended a few spring to mind :-

Steve Wigley v Blackburn circa 1986 (I think someone else smashed one in the top corner from about 25 yards in that game but can't remember who)
Alan Young v Oxford circa 1983
Andy Kennedy v Blackburn? circa 1987 (ran for about 60 yards before smashing it high in net)
Glyn Hodges v Manchester Utd FA Cup 1993

Probably a few more too.
re: The Andy Kennedy goal. I threw a half-eaten pie from the back of the kop, when celebrating that one. If anyone here ended up wearing it, may I offer sincere apologies

No, inevitably we lost 2 - 1 after taking the lead through Colin's worldy. Jim Smith's Oxford won the league, Dave Basetts Wimbledon finished second and we finished third, fortunately no play offs those days and we went up.

I must have been thinking of the season before.

Definitely Gary Hamson v Liverpool 1978 for me. A little shimmy from Sabella and boom, what a goal , what a night. I have the picture hung in my home it's such a special goal for me.
Also Dane Whitehouse v The Pigs again right in front of the kop. Not sure I have heard such a noise ever at The Lane as when that ball hit the back of the night garyhamson.jpg
