True but there aren't many clubs with no centre halves...first pre season friendly should be interesting with Reed and Flynn at centre back...now there's a proper slasher comment for you !

It'll be very interesting if we have Flynn at centre-back, especially since we've released him.

The fault lies with the club - it's another in a long list of Sheff Utd PR disasters.....

Wilder stated he wanted all his new signings done by the time pre-season training started (today) - it's not difficult really, if it ain't going to happen don't say it.

Adkins kept saying last season wait for the January transfer window - it's not difficult really, if it ain't going to happen don't say it

Game changing investment - McCabe stated that this would preclude us from having to sell our best young players like Harry Maguire - it's not difficult really, if it ain't going to happen don't say it.

I could go on.

The frustration grows as the days tick by.....

The pizza place that I order from always quotes me 40 mins for delivery, but they usually arrive in 25 mins.

If they don't turn up after half an hour I get impatient and wonder how long it has to bloody take. Then they actually arrive on time.

Then I feel like a silly cunt for thinking they were late when it actually came on time..........

this'll see us through to the signings...

Please wait until July 8th. Contracts starts after 1st of July. Many clubs are in the same situation as us

So why did Wilder say he wanted his signings in before training started?

We'll still be fucking about at back end of August aS usual and you know it .

Just off to look for the razors

6 new players imminent... Put the towrope back in the car...

Northampton announced 5 new signings on 1st July last year, and another one on 2nd July (not having announced any at all before those dates).

Chris says he's working hard behind the scenes. Fair enough.

It's not as if others in the division are hoovering up all the available talent in the meantime.

I once waited an hour, maybe a bit more. Phoned them up a couple of times, 'yeah, it's on its way...'
When it finally turned up I was so angry I told the delivery bloke to fuck off, I didnt want an pizza that had been sat in his bag for an hour So he did. Then I realised I'd now have to wait another 45 minutes for a pizza from somewhere else. Not my finest moment in terms of forward thinking but at least I didn't take any shit.

Key word is wanted. The bloke never said he would have them in place.

Deals are done but obviously cant be made open until contracts are up. Don't believe a word the press print ,they simply lie.
For definite sitters?
I always wonder 'why the secrecy'?

Hussey and Duffy for example were released. I imagine these are the same, if they're released why do we have to wait while their contracts are up to announce the deals?

I'm not worried, the only signing I would've liked so far is Ricky Holmes and he was for a fee.

I think a lot of people are becoming increasingly concerned. Not particularly about the fact we've only brought a couple in but by the fact that Wilder stated he wanted most, if not all, of his business concluded before today. That clearly hasn't happened. It's the potential reasons behind that which ring alarm bells, especially now he's changing what he's saying. It's all a little worryingly familiar.

Last weekend and his week were meant to be 'exciting times'. Unless another Board reshuffle excites anyone, they've been the opposite.

Joel Matip was announced to Liverpool in January, he cant sign until July 1st (when his contract expires) but nothing stops clubs from announcing this information.

A similar thing happened with Turan and Aleix Vidal to Barcelona when they were under embargo.

I am not dismissing your point that signings could be finalized/announced on the 1st however they can announce free transfers before.

You don't have to wait until July 1st at all.

Signings are always announced before then.

Players will begin training with their new clubs before their contracts start.

We've even signed Duffy and Hussey so there's no mysterious reason that only applies to Sheffield United like there usually seems to be.
