I just wanted to spread the love, if we can do it then you lot can do it because you're massive, I do think the longer you are in a league the harder it is to get out, more so as you are now an established league 1 club COYR
 
Barnsley's young squad that just got promotion was largely the same squad that was in the relegation zone earlier in the season. The turnaround started with the signing of Adam Hammill (not a young player). Shows the importance of getting the balance right between youth and experience. And having players with bottle.

A Hammond-esque penalty in the 17th minute and then huff and puff till the 83rd minute to put things to bed, if we'd had Geddes and Lee Hughes playing (both suspended for being twats!) I'm sure we'd have got a goal out of it :D

Anyways.. portsmouthtyke how's Georgie Williams doing for you lot now? Hopefully we get a few more dollars in the bank from your promotion in his sell on clauses we made when you poached him off us! ;)

Yes a bit patronising I'm afraid....but congratulations to the dingly ones, mad fuckers though so many of them are, they did what we wanted to but could not. Next year.

I dont really follow your club or take an interest in it and havent got a clue it was just an off the cuff remark I really dont give a fuck about who started Toney came on hes a loanee isnt he so thats 4
You deseved to win but all I can see next season is a relegation struggle with yourselves and Rovrum featuring

You may be right, but whilst we may or may not be struggling next season just remember it's not us who are starting our seventh season in the tin pot league, and as we may not pull up any trees next season I will prefer watching us play leeds / villa/ the toon than fleetwood/ shrewsbury and southend.

Well we finished 7pts off which suggests we were still in the hunt with at least 3 games left to play.

Also with the syndrome harder you work , luckier you get . The players also believed in what the manager was saying . With Adkins we started to have buzzword bingo and a sense of ridicule towards him , so no idea what the players thought .

As you say guts and determination . It wasn't there from the first game of the season . Good luck to Barnsley .

again it backs up my point that promotion was still very possible for us in January , if only Adkins had pulled his finger out and got in the few we needed, we were better positioned than Barnsley,but just lacked the will at the helm
next season I am certain it wont be a lack of drive or desire , that might hold us back

Do you reckon Adkins would chose to not bring players in when he clearly said we need to stay in touch until January then bring in the required talent?

The board might not have trusted him to bring in the required talent but you can't blame Adkins for not bringing players in when he clearly wanted some.

Wiz . I think the board , especially McCabe had lost all trust and confidence in Adkins and blocked any further signings . Hammond was the final nail in the coffin for Adkins , plus the dire performances being served up.

A catch twenty two situation which did IMO prevent us getting into the play offs , which were there for the taking on more than one occasion even with us playing dire .

However no good crying over spilt milk .

Well the simple folk of Barnsley will be happy with that result, bottom of the table to promotion in a half a season, brought some joy in to their miserable lives

And did barnsleys run start when they got a 90 odd minute equaliser against us? I reckon pumpeduptyke should show a bit more respect, there promotion was partly down to us.

I just think he chased too many players that werent available , like Burn who due to circumstances was always out of reach , think Adkins lost focus on what we needed to what was available
The boards always paid the wages as like this year highest in the league officially , so its not for lack of money
They paid for Baptiste , who was more of what was needed but too late and another 2 at least maybe 4 besides , but Adlins hadnt been flexible enough in targetting players

I wanted Adkins to get it right , but he failed to find one player even on loan in January which has cost him his job

Very good points btl, especially the one regarding Baptiste. Why didn't he bring someone in of this calibre in January instead of towards the back end of the season? It can't be the board not letting him because why would they then let him bring him in when they did? Questions that again will never get asked or not answered properly, always answered way too diplomatically even if they're asked.

Whatever happens Id rather be a Blade in L1 than a Dingle in any division

Scunthorpe are our bogey team you may be right, I think you are getting our attendance figures confused with your cousins from South Barnsley they have millions of fans we will probably have 18000
