So not a complete tosser then if he was willing to take a wage cut to stay but with the response he got from fans you would wonder why though.

We don't know any details about it? - was it tokenistic? was he willing to enter into negotiations to terminate an unviable contract (given the circumstances)?

I wonder...

My vote's on him being a complete tosser.

If you were a tosser and the deal is already loaded in your favour as the article says then you would not offer to take a wage cut to stay.

Strange one. Willing to take a pay cut as a last ditch attempt to stay employed by us? Surely he's not so dense as to think we fans would warm to him for such a gesture?

He could play for nowt and serve the pies before the game and at half time...still wouldn't want him here.

Hopefully the willingness to negotiate is there on his part, to substantially reduce the burden he'll be on the club.

No doubt we'll get to see how intransigent he is (or isn't, let's hope) over the coming weeks/months.

hhmmm wouldn't hurt his cause if he did offer to take a pay cut.
He's at a stage of his career where he doesn't have many seasons left, and a full season in the reserves may be the end for him.
End of the day the fans clearly wasn't happy with him latter end of the season, and I'm sure he knew that when he signed the contracted extension. I'd garner a guess he had nothing else lined up so he took the contract.
Being transferred listed has given him a clear indication that he's not in the new managers plans, so finding a club who may be willing to play him is advisable if he wants to keep his career going. He's fortunate to have the security of a contract here, which logically you can't blame him for signing.
Now we just have to see how determined he is to keep his career going, if that is finding a new club or trying to earn his place here we will see.
Maybe he plans just to retire after next season and cash in, who knows.

If only Doyle had spread his deal to cover last season too, then we'd never have needed someone like Dean Hammond.
It's saying something when I'd rather Doyle was still here over Hammond because I really didn't rate Doyle but he's better than Hammond.

I yearn for a good all round midfielder, we desperately need at least one of them.

Is this like the pay cuts that Collins and Doyle took to spread their wages over a longer period so we were lumbered with them for longer?
Cresswell did similar in our 2nd season in pub league - allegedly we werent playing him to save on his appearance fees, so he made himself cheaper to get games

Bloke should get a fresh chance like anyone else next season. I dont like the fact that we negotiated idiot terms with a player once more but lets see what happens. With different players around him he could be better for it.

Question I would ask is why would you negotiate a contract like this?

He would be better advised to find another club asap.

Its obvious that Wilder doesn't have him in his plans so he may as well leave.

After taking the piss out of the lily livered scouse geograhy teacher for most of the season. I dont think Hammond will take kindly to CW having his knackers in a Vinny Jones style crench for too long.

Must admit, I think think he has been playing on reduced Wages all Season

He certainly gives that impression with his efforts

and to be honest, he could have earnt his wages last Season and this Season by not sliding in for that tackle at OT, which cost £1 million for the Replay

Pay cut or no, he's on the transfer list and hopefully he'll be gone ASAP. The question is will anyone be daft enough?

Dear God I hope you are wrong, been done up like a kipper with that deal!
I think, even Kippers are laughing at us on this one

But I wouldn't underestimate SUFC's capability of taking this to a whole new level ...................................

I wonder if Hammond will turnup for the Team Photo in August

Photoshop him in, or just buy a hundred weight of Horse Shit and use it as a body double.
