Adkins has to stay

I think he'd be a big step up from Adkins.

Appreciate he's not everyones cup of tea but I personally wouldn't mind it if we appointed him.

You'd be hard pressed to name someone who wouldn't be a step up from Adkins!

Only two managers became family friends outside football with the McCabes , and made McCabe laugh as well as frustrated . They both loved the blades as much as he did . We know who they were , and if McCabe still carries the most clout , that why he could be looking at Wilder .

Football logic doesn't work at the lane , if it did Clough or Adkins would definitely have succeeded.

I have come to the conclusion we are different to ALL other clubs , and Adkins and Clough did not embrace or understand it . That nutter Ian Holloway would , and perhaps we need a manager who is dynamic but also unhinged . Just a thought.

I think both Clough and Adkins do get the size of the club but don't have the personalities to tap into it. Warnock and Harry were masters of that, I still really miss the Warnock fist pumping to the Kop after a win. To me that's such a simple thing to do why don't we see more managers embrace their crowd. Klopp is the more high profile example of course.

Definitely on the managers future, as well as the players by the end of the week. I mean you couldn't script this could you, although we've been here before of course! How has the conversation gone you reckon? Obviously not like below but you get the gist!

This is quite simply fucking ridiculous. Why feed to the media that the managers job is even under review?

I'd have to agree, whatever peoples view on Adkins is, it's not exactly a decent way to go about things in my view.

Not sure to be honest, presumably its been leaked or they're trying to force Adkins hand and retire although I doubt it, but who knows.

Wouldn't be against Wilder, but for me I'll stand by the fact we should keep Adkins.

If he knows he's gonna get the boot he'll offer McEveley, Flynn, Woolford, Sammon and Hammond 30k a week deals and fuck off.

In the real world yes, it's fucking ridiculous. This, however, is the whacky world of Sheffield United Football Club, where long term planning now means working out what you might have for breakfast tomorrow.

The reason so many of our managers fail is simply they have NO CHOICE but to work on short termism instead of trying to build something. Every time we fail to get promoted we sack the manager and start again, it's stupidity of the highest order.
The reason players like Sharp, Woolford and Hammond are recruited is because, if you've only got a year, you need players around you who you trust and think can do what they have already done for you. You haven't time to think any longer term because you won't be here to benefit from it.
Once you've been mired in this division for half a decade it's not as easy as rocking up and saying we're SUFC so we're going up (I know it should be because we don't belong here etc. etc.).

I'm all for stability and I think its PART but not ALL of the reason that we're still in League One. There's no point in having the wrong manger in for a long time, because the longer the stay the harder it is for the next guy to sort it out. I don't think anyone can blame McCabe for appointing Adkins, based on his record. If he goes then I'll trust that McCabe knows more about what's going on behind the scenes than I do, like whether the players like him, because we're still going to have quite a few players from last season here.

Klopp looks like a U Boat captain to me.

I imagine he'd be just the same after he torped a merchant vessel.

.... just me, then?

Like it . The U Boat captain as Michael Caine in The Eagle as Landed.

Our Adkins is Donald Sutherland the Irish intellect and philosopher in the same film.

Adkins has used up all his last reserves of goodwill. It's painful to watch him flounder now.

Even those who've doggedly supported him throughout are visibly crossing fingers, toes & anything else that can be crossed, while wearily trotting out the "we can't keep on sacking managers" mantra. Yes, everyone's baffled by the vast contrast between how good he used to be & how shit we've actually witnessed him being. But it's wishful thinking being offered up now in hoping he'll somehow rediscover his managerial mojo. Evidence just isn't available.

It'd be a big, big risk keeping him now. Unless he gets us off to an absolute flyer next season, the toxicity's waiting just under the surface, ready to erupt.

It's no use just chucking relentless positivity in the face of adversity. Adkins really doesn't seem cut out for the task in hand IMO.

Nah - more like the feller in Das Boot

I see Adkins as more of a Timmy Mallett character in Wack-a-day - only less pink

Anyone else think that despite all our beliefs before Adkins came that Adkins was Mr Positive and with it I thought he was a players manager and good at man management. Well maybe this actually is a façade, because it just seems that all has not been well for a while this season and when Collo left he failed to endorse him staying which told the whole story for me, although at the time I ignored the warning signs. When you hear Tel saying he's training with the under academy lads I think, why? He's still a first team player or do I recall that wrong re the training. Is Adkins actually more like Clough then we ever realised?

Sorry to say this to all the Adkins love ins but to me he seems a know all , mardy bastard . If you are winning , you can put up and get away with anything . Look at Jose at Chelsea first time round , second time round he fucked everybody off .

Let's have a clean sweep with players and manager going out of the door . We have not had a better time to rebuild , but it would be sheer madness and suicidal to let Adkins build then sack him .

Let McCabe make the decision and whatever it is , we have to support the guy , as he will be shell shocked , confused , pissed off and frustrated as much as us . He may be top dag at the lane , but also a fan , were the heart sometimes rules the head , as we all know.
