2+2 = 5?

Mike Stephenson ‏@Stephenson87M @RyanDaffin Just going off a FB status tht has all out of contract being released barring Long and McDipshit! Long ok but McEv, get fucked

Oh f**k ....... I hope this is bullshit or an error.

If its true then we're clearly going to settle for the cheap option again and continue our self-inflicted incarceration in this agricultural Division !! :(

UTB & FTP

The worry is that, regardless of our intentions, he'll end up starting 30 odd games.

And bet on more penalties in our matches.

Kev. Nige. We didn't think you gave the squad last season a full, thorough appraisal. Start the off with a clean slate. Good lad.
Nige.
Kev. Nige?
Nige.
Kev. Nige. Nige. NIGE?
Nige.

Kev. Prince, I think Nige is happy with that. Love Ya Buddy.

I was told today that he is getting another contract. Hopefully its wrong because this is a great opportunity to get rid of lots of the players who have let us down and I'm afraid McEverley is one of them

Mceveley has done well in the second half of the season, handball apart!

Think he deserves another contract, IMO only he and Long have earned one.

Long, Mceveley and Basham offered new, or in Bash's case, extended deals. The latter two on reduced terms (Bash's on big money). Jay has indicated his unhappiness with his new status in the squad, and looks likely to see if he can get a longer deal elsewhere.

I honestly feel that if people believe that players of the standard of Mceverly should have a place in a blades team then I must be seeing a different player on the pitch. He is an honest trier who simply is not good enough, even at this rank level. The ball is never under control so he is always either sprinting after it due to a poor first touch or throwing himself into tackles he should not be having to make as his reading of the game is so poor and I'm afraid his distribution is low quality also. I cannot see how having players like him in the side we can ever expect anything to improve, granted he is perhaps better than some of the others but that says more about them and the sad state of the first team than it does about him.

Seems fair enough if true.

Haha! McEveley rejecting any contract from Sheffield United?? It must have been a terrible offer!

What about Bash? Do we take it that he's accepted?

Adams?

Talks ongoing but my hunch is yes. The reason why is that we have an option and can hold him to it anyway (the option is on the big terms though). If your a Bash fan I'd say he's not one to worry about in the short term (everyone likes him and we have a measure of control).

United tried to extend his deal around a month ago but hit some roadblocks. Would be surprised if they don't revisit this summer but they're prioritising. All the deals offered remain on the table and changes of heart can happen (how green's the grass elsewhere?).

Che only signed a contract in August, are you sure we're looking at extending it already?

Yep, he has a very good agent who's not so easy to deal with. The club wants to reward the player and retain the long contract length. The agent wants a buy out fee included. Its all about protecting the asset and keeping him happy at SUFC.

I appreciate the sensitivity, and it's absolutely none of my business, but can you give any idea of what constitutes "big money" at Sheffield United? Apart from a few outliers, like Sharp or Hammond, who've played at higher levels and so presumably can still command higher salaries, these are mostly journeymen lower division footballers - I know Basham, relatively, is one of the better performers but the peak of his career to date is a few games at Bolton. If he's on any more than 3 thousand a week, I'd be amazed/horrified.

You are kidding me!!!!!
No, I genuinely believe it!

Once he got back in the side for the Oldham Cup game, I think he has been consistent, and gave everything in every game.

Of course he`s had some poor moments, and tends to start games sloppy, but in a back 3, he has looked steady, good enough for a League One campaign.

I`m not totally deluded though, we should be looking for better, and I`m not saying he should play 46 games, but would be a decent squad memeber, able to play 2 positions.

If Sunjihi is right though, it appears he might be on his way, think that would please the majority.

At least 12 of our players were on £5K a week while none at Coventry earns that much and that was said by someone at Coventry to my friend who was in the executive boxes for our match at the Ricoh.
