The Rhian Brewster deal

I'll take Roy Eldridge and Diz any day of the week.
You must like your trumpet players?
My choice would be Chet Baker and I only came across him through an affiliation to the music of Gerry Mulligan who's, in my opinion, best work was with Baker.
Regarding the photo, it's from a set of photos entitled 'A day out in Harlem', where the photographer, from Esquire magazine, gathered as many jazz musicians as possible in the New York area with intention of photographing them for an artical and posterity.
Anyone interested in music, of any kind, it's on line and worth a gander.
There is also a DVD of the occasion, taken from 8mm film shot by one of the musicians.

The post title sounds like a good name for a jazz quartet. Glad I came on now.
Disagree - more likely for a jazz quartet to be called ‘The Rhian Brewster Project’. HRH could the start wearing a roll neck black sweater rather than that bloody stupid hoody. It could feature John Ebrell on drums, Reeda Khadra on double bass and Rhian Brewster on crutches………”nice”

Isn't the more important question just now, what the fuck is happening on the kop these days with stewards assaulting OAPs as they struggle down to their HH seat 🤔 ...
Thank goodness I only have to struggle down to JJ ;)

Where I really struggle is at away games when I'm sat above the exit. After being stood for the whole game my stiff knees really don't like going down steps but I'm happy to report that every where that I have struggled my fellow Blades have always been most helpful in allowing me the time and space needed to conquer the descent.

The sort of signing that never works out for us,
The bigger the fee for a forward, the bigger the disaster

Alan Young, Peter Withe, Chris Guthrie, Steve Neville, Richard Cadette, Geoff Horsfield, Olli McBurnie, Callum Robinson, Darius Henderson, Adi Akinbiyi, Luton Shelton

We should stick to what we're not very good at instead of what we're abysmal at
You forgot Steve Finnieston

Look at the deal, but instead from a dodgy car dealer, we can call him erm "Jurgen" for convenience.

"looking at the brewster gti mate"

"listen, I don't want to sell you this car even though there is a price is in the window, but I will, and in truth I'd rather keep it because I'll not get another one like it you see, but I don't get time to drive it and it's a shame as its no good for the car leaving it stood in the car lot"

" you're breaking my heart mate, tell you what you can have it for 20 grand, and if it doesn't break down, I'll buy it back from you for 35 grand in two years"

After that it's all yours, take it or leave it.

Can I trade a Kean Bryan 2.0 in against it Jurgen?

No.. 😂😂😂

Yes, I'm familiar with the photos you refer to. The most well known is the collection of jazz greats assembled outside a house in Harlem by photographer Art Kane. It includes a group of young black boys who refused to budge(good for them I say), hence their inclusion in the shot. As you suggest, the dvd of this historic gathering is well worth purchasing if jazz is your thing.

You're spot on, I love a great trumpet player, and up there with the best of 'em was the sadly departed but immensely talented Roy Hargrove.

We wrote off Coutts after an injury ridden start and he wrote himself into our history books. Brewster is a popular lad in the dressing room and I understand popular with staff due to his attitude and application. The fans will keep backing him 100% as I think if he gets a break, he will fly. In that run of games last season he looked shit hot.

We don't pay players huge sums of money (35K per week) to be popular in the dressing room, sure it helps, but we pay them for what their supposed to do..............and in this case score goals....................i rest my case,...........get him cleared out

I'd have to disagree - even at his peak he's looked nothing more than a "few" million pound player to me.

Surely the worst business he club has ever done, even without injury. From a financial point of view, we'd be much better of if he didn't recover from injury.
100 per cent!........bang on the money

I hope his injuries sort themselves out and he proves a few on here wrong. We sometimes forget he was the cream of the England U21 crop a couple of years ago. I'm not writing him off just yet.
Why not?..............how long do you want to wait.............strikers are paid to score goals...............i rest my case, and probably thousands of others too

If he got a new deal, a year, maybe 2, I think I'd be ok with that. It'd have to be massively reduced to what he's on now. He still has potential but he's no where near worth what we paid/what we're paying him.

You'd think no one higher than us would go anywhere near him. Maybe Swansea? He'll never get 40k a week again that's for sure

Not too late to get him out on loan?!

He should be paying us.

I think people are a bit harsh on Brewster. Yes, it was a bad tackle and he should've known better. But I really doubt he had any ill intent. He was probably just overzealous, trying to win the ball back quickly. I assume coming off the bench he probably had a lot of energy in him trying to prove that he can be a starter. I always take that over someone who's just jogging over the pitch going through the motions. I don't want to see him injure people obviously.

we shouldnt even be considering offering brewster a new contract even more so after todays stupidity get him off the books and out of our club
That might be cutting our nose off to spite our face.
No contract and he leaves for nothing. Contracted and we can sell him.
Take your pick.

At his age, his agent will be demanding improved wages, and we'd be mad to do that, so i suspect he'll be leaving for free.

Depends what those wages are and how quick we could offload him and for how much. It's just a maths thing. If he was on 50k and we can sell him within a year for £5m we are up on the deal.
Just do what works out financially.

Certainly don’t see anybody paying any sort of fee for him. Think he will end up lower Championship at very best and on nothing like the wages he’s on now.

I wouldn't improve the wages of someone whose output has been so poor. Sends a terrible message to the rest of the squad.

I am not sure where the £45k a week comes from. I am sure I read that he had taken a pay cut to much less than that to come as he wanted a chance to play regular first team football which he felt he would not get at Liverpool.
