Everyone kicked up a fuss when I made the point about it being such a wrong decision to take as long as we did to assess the squad. I was spot on. Similarly with my criticism of Adkins' strange refusal to sign in priority order i.e sign 2 central defenders and not 2 strikers as he did. We still haven't achieved that even now. I said we shouldn't be signing slow and unathletic players. We sign four and as seen a mile off, all have been poor.

Now we're feeling the force of the mistakes pointed out above, most are obviously as frustrated as I've been for the last 7 months. But then there's an almost unanimous mocking of an attempt of a protest just the other day. The performances and everything else have absolutely nothing to do with the excellent support we always recieve but that just doesn't add up.

Everyone has their own in depth opinions and such like but it's fairly simple:

We shan't be going anywhere whilst these owners, this board and Adkins are in place. It's as simple as that.

He hasn't refused to sign two strikers or central defenders. It's quite obvious to everyone that he's attempted to bring in players but that wasn't successful because his hands are tied. Yes he did evaluate the squad but do you not think that after watching the videos from the previous season he already had areas in mind to focus on? That maybe assessing the squad was being done at the same time potential targets were being selected?
He's had Murphy sold from under him because of the board's farcical policy of offering out long term contracts and then not holding players to these agreements! He has a squad full of average players taking up the wage bill limiting him to loans and free transfers. In the first transfer window there was no scouting system in place until mid way through. In the second transfer window he couldn't bring anyone in until he had thrown out most of the players that he didn't want and now people are saying that the ones he's wanting to get rid of are not even playing for him (although I don't think that is the case for all of them, especially if they are starting every game).

Barney, I can appreciate your pain at what is going on and many share it, however you seem to be suffering far far more than most and as a concerned fellow poster on this board can I suggest a gap decade from life at United, a time to rejuinate yourself in an Eat, Pray, Love sort of way.

I am told travel is a wonderful remedy and if I can suggest a few years or so in Tristan da Cunha island, it's a British Teritory so you won't have to worry about passport issues or immigration or anything, it's one of the most remote places on earth and most importantly of all for you and every one concerned about your well being it has absolutely no internet access whatsoever so you can put your feet up and not worry about anything.

Hope you take this advice and everything is well in ten years time when we hear from you again.

Have you written to Adkins and asked him why it took so long? It would be useful if you could share his reply.

My issue with this is that if we hadn't sacked Wilson and Clough I'm assuming we'd have had an extra £1m to spend on players. If we throw that away now on average lower league players then the board are stupid.

Barney, give us 4 months to prove yay or nay here and sign some decent players within timescale.

Go ahead Barn, lead the protest. ;)

Although you make some good points Barney. The first, and last thing that I thought after reading your post was 'Look at me everyone, just look at me!'

It's as simple as this:

You condemned the signing of this teams top scorer this season.

You also recommended getting rid of Adkins and bringing in Chris Wilder, who has achieved the square root of fuck all.

It's as simple as this, you're very simple.....

Alternatively, some beer, whisky, cigarettes, a good internet connection, hardcore pornography and frenetic bouts of masturbation might just help young Barney ?
Might be better than a big "Look everyone!" bout of forum self-pollution. Take yourself in hand, young man, explore the delights of watching two lithe ladies with surgically enhanced mammaries going at each other like a dog eating hot chips, or whatever else floats your boat, (who am I to decide for you?) and relieve what seems to be an almost unbearable level of stress.

After all, you're not going to actually watch Sheffield United at all, so that gives you plenty more time than the rest of us. Plus it's half-term next week, you've got loads of opportunities to get yourself sorted, and those teenage testosterone levels must be through the roof by now.

Either way, if you take my advice or that of Harry's Game you need a break. You've already stopped going to Bramall Lane, if indeed you ever started. Take as long as you need.

Barney migrate! Come on he has enough difficulty hiding the fact that he sheds his skin.

Two comments made to me recently about Barney. A 16 yr old boy told me there's a bloke named Barney who is receiving internet bullying on this forum.
My wife asked me today if Barney is a Wednesday fan in disguise. I don't think he is a pig, said I.

I would have agree he does get bullied but he's the guy who was telling everybody how big he was and nobody would say any of this to his face. Red rag to a bull on the tinterweb

I'd happily say anything I've posted on here to the face of any person I've posted about. I include Barney in this, as I do Christa Ackroyd and my statement about shagging her in a paddling pool full of Swarfega.

Nutella? Are you on glue? It's bloody awful as a lubricant when romping with middle aged arthritic ex-tv personalities.

So I'm told, anyway :D

I was thinking; it's as grainy as swarf but with the added advantage of being able to slap it between a couple of slices of bread and make the old dear a sarnie afterwards.

Your lack of understanding of what is going on leads you to post questionable views.
1) Adkins gave the impression of accessing the squad knowing full well he had no option but to keep what we had. He was trying to instil confidence in players he knew were sub standard.
2) Adkins was given money to buy ONE player; Sharp who has managed to score in a poor relegation standard team.
3) He was allowed to make one free transfer which I accept has been a failure, but name any manger in the world who hasn't made one.
4) He was allowed three loan signings and in my opinion made the right choice in getting 1 defender, 1 midfielder and 1 attacker.
Out of those three, Edgar is an OK league 1 player, Hammond in my view has done quite well, but seriously let down by those around him and Sammon has failed but you try finding a good striker available on loan.

Adkins is NOT the problem. In fact in my opinion he has done well with whats available. Every manager since Warnock has failed at this club, but most have failed due to the poisonous board room we find ourselves with. We've had so many managers my memory struggles to remember them but to name a few:

Robson: FAIL and utter DISASTER
Blackwell: Omg he took us to the Championship play-offs but was hounded out for his style of play.
Adams: FAIL and total DISASTER
Wilson: Best win % in recent history but sacked for no good reason. We'll never know, but I'm confident he would of had us in the championship by now.
Weir: FAIL
Morgan: we'll never know
Clough: What an arrogant piece of ............ . We'll never know if he could have succeeded but he has no track record of success and left a very poor squad behind. Unlike others I do not think he would have done any better than Adkins and probably done a lot worse.
Adkins: For christ sake he has the best cv of them all. He's fighting against a useless boardroom. Give him at least three years if not more. ps I think he'll walk because he's too good for his employers.

To summarise there is absolutely no point what so ever in replacing Adkins, there is no one on planet earth (and available) who could do any better.

Barney, instead of making a post about Sheffield United, you make a post that's all about Barney.

I did this. I said that. I was spot on.

This is probably why you get the abuse you do.

I'm not sure whether to feel hugely patronised, or a little bit flattered.

Is it bullying? To be honest I hadn't thought that. It's more a problem of whether or not posters have the capability to accept others opinions. Many haven't. Trouble is, I don't see what I've said that many others haven't made a point about. Apart from wanting rid of Adkins. Yes, I might repeat the points a bit but i'd suggest a lot of others do the same. It's what happens when there's a limited number of topics to talk about, you generally end up discussing the same thing again and again.

There's a large difference between different opinions and the me me me OP you started.

Here's a little bit of advice for you, when composing the latest masterpiece, count the references you make to yourself. If it's more than 3, try again.
