I think our fans can have an odd way of judging good defending at times. Having good positioning and snuffing out an attack with minimal fuss or effort (eg Paul McGrath) is the ideal, but often goes unnoticed. Being hopelessly out of position but haring back like a lunatic to make a last ditch tackle gets a standing ovation!

Anel has looked far more comfortable in the middle of the defence. But sadly we didn't sign a centre back in the window when it was blindingly obvious we needed an extra body, meaning Anel is now our only fit RCB. So I imagine he will probably stay there with Trusty playing in the middle and Robinson on the left.

I have been dead against the idea of playing a back 4, but given we're down to 3 fit centre backs it might be the better option now:

I think these are our best options (although I would go with JLT as an orthodox left back in the 4-4-2). Whatever, we need to be comfortable pivoting between systems when something's not working.

Shame we didn't go in for Conor Coady in the end - ironically because we didn't think RCB was a concern
