Zonal Marking podcast - where did it all go wrong

For those who like to wallow in defeat and despair, the latest Zonal Marking podcast looks at what went wrong for the three (likely to be) relegated teams. United are covered first. And as you might expect, it's not pretty...perhaps made worse by the presenters being big fans of us in recent years and wistfully remembering the "good times".

Love zonal marking. Ali Maxwell is my favourite host and Cox is my favourite pundit. Still might swerve this one though!

Hard to argue with any of what they said and just goes to show that our thinking as fans falls in line with that of the experts.

Only two points I'd challenge - that Lundstram is worthy of another crack at the Prem with another team, and when Ali Maxwell refers to us as "W*****day" at the beginning.

Other than that, they were bang on the money:

• Bash/McGoldrick only high performers this season
• Hit by injuries in key positions (esp. JOC and inability to find a replacement for LCB)
• Squad tailored to play only one system and an inability to switch systems when it's not working (key point being the lack of wide/attacking midfield options)
• Probably affected more than most by lack of fans
• key players from previous seasons underperforming

Not a pleasant listen, but an honest one and refreshing to hear that the stats back up our crapness and not the fine margins bollox that's usually trotted out.
