Totally theoretical, but I bet this statement wouldn't have applied a year or two ago:

"They think Sheffield United play correctly and that John will benefit as a result.
He wouldn’t be there at all if not."

I doubt Sir Alex watched any of our games last season but his scouts will have seen a couple. It wouldn't surprise me if the report back from the play-off final was "poor but they were obviously lacking movement and nous up front".

Cofie, Delfouneso, Beavon and Porter would do me as a forward line. Adding Wells from Bratfut would be a bonus. I know that this is unlikely to happen but I can hope

ps I know Cresswell's not on the list. He's a back-up.

gavtheblade Bradford Blade got it in one. I don't think I've ever met anyone from Bradford who can pronounce its name correctly, hence "Bratfut".

Wells might not be the finished article but he looks like the kind of player we could sign for a minimal outlay (£100-£200k) and stand a chance of making a decent profit on if he turns out good.

Old sir Alex showing his lack of football knowledge again , god only knows how he is the most successful manager ever

Obviously, he must still feel bad about fielding his reserve side against Slam that fatefull day ;)

Sir Alex has an encylcopedic knowledge of English Football, remember reading in an autobiography where another manager and his assistant decide to test his knowledge and ask him about some young lad who was playing down the leagues, and Sir Alex gave them the run down on him.
