Might just be lighting the blue touch paper here but I'm struggling to work out this lad.

Main point being, what the hell is he offering us that Cotterill couldn't/didn't? With the amount of ball Yeates had yesterday (could also read last week, week before and week before that), you could almost guarantee that Cotts would have beat a man and got a couple of decent crosses in.

I've seen nothing from Yeates as yet to even suggest we've got some value from him. Can't beat a man, can't cross a ball. For a winger.

For the money we spent on him against what we received for Cotts we might as well have stuck with what we had. I can only come to the conclusion that Cotterill was on big money, but I also can't imagine that Yeates is on peanuts either.

Very strange signing.

Early days, but I have the same issue with him that I had with Cotterill.

Yeates saw lots of the ball yesterday but rarely delivered the right ball. Alternatively when he got tackled (nothing wrong with that) he reacted by trying the same thing time and time again, rather than being clever and trying something different...

From what i've seen he's a very frustrating player... in contrast to Little who does everything you want him to.

I'm undecided on him so far. The one thing I've been most disappointed with is his set piece deliveries.

To see the best of him he must be kept away from the right hand side, where he is woeful. If he's going to succeed here he needs to be playing on the left with a full back supporting him, or playing just off the striker, like he did for much of the game yesterday - I think that's something that could work wonders for us away from home in particular.

Also undecided but he does seem to play 'inside' a bit and not as a winger.

It was the 18th minute at Donny before he had the ball on the wing and like yesterday he had seen quite a lot of the ball before then.

With Ward's dodgy hamstrings, Little's lack of youth and Yeates' tendency to play inside, we need to sign at least one out and out winger in the summer I feel.

cotterill was shit and couldnt handle the big occasion ,his dissapearence at wembley is still being investigated by scotland yard

Cotterill is a better player than Yeates but didn't produce anywhere near regularly enough, although it's fair to suggest he could've done with a sustained run in the team.

Big difference is that Cotts would give either a 9 or a 3 out of ten every week, but you never knew which it would be until ten minutes in. Yeates will give you 6 week in week out.

Consistent mediocrity or occasional brilliance? Only one winner if you manage in the Championship.Sadly.

Yeates has been consistent crap with an odd ball. So the occasional brilliance of Cotts would beat this.

His best game for us so far was Preston away. He had a sort of free role if I remember correctly and looked good running directly at them and committing their defenders. That was mainly in the last half and hour or so. Yeates and Ward out wide, Hendo and Camara up front. Shame we've not been able to see them all on the pitch since.

Anybody sure that we didn't play Eddie Yates yesterday ?....

That free kick delivery in the last minute was absolutely shocking, shameful and embarrassing.

I've been disappointed with Yeates since his arrival, his performances at Colchester had me suggesting him as a potential signing many a time.

However his peformances at United haven't been anywhere near that standard and makes one question the decision to bring him in as a replacement for Cotterill.

Its early days yet, but I think he's been disappointing so far. Having said that, I don't think many players have performed particularly well this season.
