Wrong strategy in transfer ?
So we appear to be working on a wage bill that we don’t want to break, is this working against us.
Example: we sign a player for £23m and pay them £20k per week this equals around £27m over the 4 years.

example 2 we go for a out of contract better quality and proven performer in the EPL and pay £100k per week on a four year contract that equals £20m over 4 years.
We have spent well over £90m so far while in the prem and today only 5 players started different to the champ promotion winning side but all have been gambles and unproven at prem league level

It's the right strategy for a club like us. Signing players on massive wages is how football clubs like ours end up in the shit. If we go down, we've signed players that we know can do it at that level (McBurnie is a 20 goal a season striker in the Championship, for example) and we aren't left with a ridiculous wage bill. It gives us a better chance of bouncing back.

That's before you get to the fact that signing proven Premier League quality players is easier said than done for teams outside the top 6.

But we still have to pay the original fee plus the wages so how are we better off?

Then you have to play every member of the starting line-up 100k pw.

There's nothing wrong with our strategy. The problem is that we're fishing in a small pond because our scouting network outside of the UK is virtually non-existent. Because we've failed to invest in it over the years and Chris' strategy of buying 'local# had worked up until last season.

Not sure what the fuck our strategy was in the transfer market other than to piss a fair chunk of money away.

No you don’t have to pay every player the same wage, are Spurs paying all their players the same as Bale.
players have to know their value and we have to pay more for quality if we want to progress

Why did we go from having Duffy as attacking-mid, to (arguably) replacing him with Freeman, to shipping Freeman out on loan and not replacing him amidst all this Lundstram contract fiasco? We were heavily linked with Swift. What happened?
I question our strategy in midfield.. absolutely. Nobody could have foreseen JOC's injury however. Brewster and Ramsdale.. too early to judge. Quite like Lowe and Ampadu.
