Would you like to have a chat with DW and what would you ask him?
I would like to know why he brings on a midfielder on for a midfielder when we are behind and plays the same formation/system and not an additional striker to try and get back in the game?
Is he the only manager who does this?
Other managers change formation during games, extra defender on when 1-0 in front late on,or an extra striker on when behind?
In my mind,if we are 0-2 behind with say 15-20 mins to go,surely he has to play 2 strikers and go for it at that point! No manager would stick with 5-4-1 in that situation would they?
I would like to hear his thoughts.

i'd like him to just crack on with his job, rather than trying to be everyones friend of the forums

I'd say: Dave, do you know if it will it be chips or jacket spuds? Will it be salad or frozen peas? Will it be mushrooms, fried onion rings.....

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

If he's round yours I think I already know....

As the Welshman in the joke says ''YOU SHAG ONE SHEEP....."

I haven't had couscous in ag.....actually I had some for lunch : /

In the case of your first question he would probably say 'I brought on Taylor for Hall in the Wolves game and the Preston game and for Flynn in the Rotherham game, so what are you on about?'

1. Why do we pull every single player back for a corner, even when e are losing with ten minutes left?
2. Do you think your family will die if we try 442?

I'd ask why he bothered with this pile of shit in the first place.

It's not as though there was any funding available to begin with - so what was the grand plan?
Fuck about and see what came out of it as it was a no lose situation?
- a poison chalice that no other bugger (with any sense) would touch even with something the size of @SouthEssexBlade's todger - allegedly - so he tells it anyway).

So the landscape has changed a little since the closure of the tranny window but it's not as though he can spend any of it now.

Then I'd ask him something like, "What possessed you to think you could apply champions league style tactics on a bunch of no hopers and green kids and expect them to compete with the big burley fellers you get in this league." Quickly followed up by, "Are you a fucking alchemist or summat?"

I always cringe in embarrassment when a fan who has never played football at a high level who think that they can question managers of professional football clubs

So would you play the same formation and tactics as DW then?
I played football when younger, watched the blades for nigh on 40 years and 1,000's of matches on TV etc over the years,so i can question a manager as to his formation, tactics, personnel etc as 15,000 other blades fans do.:)

We should swap managers with Man City. They played two up front tonight against Bayern and had their bottoms handed back to them on silver platters. While down in Div 1, David Weir plays etc etc............

No, I wouldn’t as we didn’t have these kind of players at the start of the season to make this work. I am fed up of us appointing managers who decide on playing the kind of style they have in their head rather than look at the players we have before deciding on the style. I think many clubs have this obsession of “trying to play like Barcelona” and it is very hard to do this in a short time. In our situation I think we need to get out of this tinpot division ASAP and we should concentrate on winning games before style

This reminds me of a story about our manager Joe Mercer (he was our manager between August 1955 and December 1958) and one of the SUFC directors. The director was questioning Mercer on his tactics during a meeting and the conversation between something like this

Mercer: What do you know about football then?
Director: I have watched football for many years so I would consider myself to be an expert on football
Mercer: My wife has sat on the passenger seat next to me for many years watching me driving the car and she bloody still cannot drive a car!

Mercer went on to win honours at Man City and managed England in 1974. My dad didn’t like Mercer’s ideas when he was our manager. Mercer was trying novelty ideas such as making players playing in different positions (in a match at Liverpool I think Graham Shaw (our LB) played as centre forward and some defenders were playing in attacking roles while some of our forwards were given defending roles. It was no surprise we lost 6-1!). It does look like Mercer was frustrating our fans like Weir is doing now! It is the club’s fault that we have given the manager’s job who have no experience of managing at 1st team level. It does seem that both Mercer and Weir see SUFC “a stepping stone”. All managers have different ideas and they will learn from their mistakes but they should never be influenced by a fan to change their style. In Junior Football my son has played under different managers and they all had different styles, man-management, coaching and discipline so I would never tell them what I think they are doing wrong unless they ask me. When SUFC (when Mike McDonald was the chairman) invited fans for Q & A sessions, I thought it was a good idea and I attended some of them (Matt Bell helped me follow the meeting by kindly writing down the notes) but stopped going as I got so embarrassed by fans (who think they are good managers) who have nothing to say but like the sound of their own voices

I suspect some people would like to do alittle more than just ask him a question.

In all honestly i would just say..........

Come on Dave. stop being so pig headed & admit its not for you.

And no i dont believe that you deserve a pay off do you?

But they should be influenced by results, Weir just seems stubborn even though the results say his style doesnt work.

My chat with Weir would only be 2 words long and one would be OFF!

I always cringe when a footballer who has played at a high level thinks that he is qualified to be a football club manager

Fully agree with that. Look at the MOTD pundits. Whenever I record MOTD and then when I watch it I usually fast forward when Shearer, Hansen and Lawrenson are discussing the matches

To be honest, didn't we (just about) all think Weir was the best option?

How wrong could we be?

Not wanting to pick bones off your post but...

When have we ever played 5-4-1 ?

Warnock tried a 3-4-3 formation for a while in 2004/05. You could probably just as well describe it as 5-4-1 or 5-2-3. We beat Aston Villa in the cup using it, with Liddell scoring twice late in the game.

It said on radio pig this morning that Weir had questioned whether he had got it wrong on the style but was sticking with it. Stubborn beyond belief!!

Oh and comedy genius McMahon reckons we can still win the league, nearly crashed when I heard that.
