So Manchester United again, losing 2-0 away from home against Olympiocos, can't help but notice Ferdinand and Vidic both past it imo as center backs... Vidic is already leaving at the end of the season, that's well documented, and i feel Rio will either retire, or be very limited in game time...

If Manchester United offered a nice amount of cash, plus a few mars bars and maybe a young loanee to take Maguire and off he trotted, do you think we'd see him in one of the Center Back positions next season? Is he cut out for the Premier League?

Let me remind you of a certain Chris Smalling who made TWELVE appearances for Maidstone United before moving to Fulham, making a further 13 appearances, then moving to Manchester United and establishing himself, instantly as a starter for Manchester United, but his career whilst not too bad to date has spiraled downwards... before you make your judgement.

I wouldn't hold a move to Manchester United against him, and i'd wish the lad good luck!

I know Moyes has struggled in the transfer market but even he isn't that daft!

no way that will happen, Harry may make the Prem one day, but he's far too slow to be at the very top of it.

You are joking arent you.?
The comparison with Smalling is worthless, he had at least played in the Premier League, hes not that good anyway

Can't see Harry ever playing regularly for a top team - he's just too slow. Mind you - John Terry seems to have got away with it for several years so you never know.
As for Smalling - like several current ManYoo players, I don't see international quality. For a big guy, he's not that great in the air, and he's not really quick enough to play FB. Nowhere near Jags or Walker IMO. If I had to describe him in one word it would be "ponderous".

Who knows, but despite hundreds of games under his belt he's still very young and a novice in the position. Pace is an issue but a few tortoises have been very successful over the years by making up for the lack of pace with a supreme reading of the game and near perfect positional sense. Time will tell with Maguire, he is getting better at this and has shown good improvement under Clough.

Too Slow! Did you see the way he ran through Bristol Citys defence, nay team on Saturday.

And Fulham's and apparently a run through the heart of the ColU defence tonight.

I think many underestimate our Harry

I think he is our biggest asset, a superb centre half, he has excellent anticipation, immense physical presence and despite what many would have you believe, a decent turn of pace, which is disguised due to his less than athletic body shape. He is reliable and possesses a football maturity way beyond his years and yet does not appear to have let success change him, which is refreshing in the era of tattoo sleeves and head butting women etc

Sadly, I fear it is just a matter of time until someone signs him, I just hope we hold out for the right sort of money, because I think he could already walk into Man Utds back four without looking out of place, I just hope he stays at The Lane to ply his trade in The Premiership !

UTB

I'm so sick of this lack of pace bollocks! Due to how tall he is he doesn't even cover ground that slowly (see matching McLean v Bradford) and even if he was ridiculously lacking pace it doesn't matter! Back to the OP I hope he doesn't move there, sideways step.

Yes, he played in the Premier League 13 times for Fulham before he moved to Man United, surely that is on par with the 123 appearances for us.

Most of those in L1 are you saying that just because a good young player plays 100 / 150 games in L1 hes good enough for the Premiership ?? I think Harry needs to prove himself with a Championship or bottom end Prem club before being thrust into Man Utds Champions League side like you are suggesting

I think he needs to stay where he is and enjoy the ride.

My main worry about 'arry at the moment is he's one yellow from a suspension. Not sure if it'd only be a one-game suspension, but surely he must be looking to 'buy' a booking before Charlton?

Won't happen now Graffers - If he picks up a booking at MKD on Satdi or vs Posh on Tuesday he will miss the QF as it will be a 2 game ban.

I am sure that NC has said to him that he wants the league points and that the team is more important than the needs of individuals and I am sure that Harry is OK with this - he strikes me as a team player.

To be fair I am not really worried about it too much. Hill has always played better at CH than FB - he won't let us down.
Sure we will miss Harry at set pieces from an attacking perspective but if Harry is missing then I maybe NC will pick Porter from the start to add the height defensively at set plays - having said that Charlton are not a very tall side - so he may just replace Harry with Hill and let Baxter lead the line until the match gets into Porter Time.

Interesting one. Harry and Collins have looked immense against opposition from higher leagues. They clearly have a very good understanding. Very little has come through the middle against Villa, Fulham and Forest.

Harry isn't blessed with pace, but when he switches on he reads the game well and anticipates. His speed of thought CAN give him a yards headstart. But he switches off a lot.

Very good in the air, good with the ball at his feet and distributes well. Likes to get forward and is an attacking asset at set pieces.

I was also encouraged against Fulham that despite being beaten a few times early on by their big lad, he learnt from it and got the better of him.

He can be petulant at times and isn't a talker but alongside someone like jags I think he'd do well.

I think he's a better player than we give him credit for. Everton have stones from Barnsley and the info I've had is that he's doing ok.

Not sure Man U would be the place for Harry, but perhaps Everton
