Sounds reasonable, Morgs has to be one of the most skillful CB's we've seen at the Lane  You can see the influence in Maguire already, the way he controls the ball, dribbles out of defence, pings 50 yard balls across the park straight to our players.

As long as it's do as I say, not as I do :D

One of the players at Bramall Lane, who has been a round a bit, says he's never played with anyone who is as universally respected by his teammates as Morgan. I think he has a massive influence at Bramall Lane and, hopefully, by standing shoulder to shoulder with Wilson, he'll stop the worst of the vitriol from derailing the season before it starts.

It would be no surprise to see him wheeled out at the press conference today. Be nice if he offered the protestors out as well ;)

That's what I understand Morgs to be player coacgh, but how much influence has Morgs had in this appointment.... Old Buddy network and all that.

JC to be fair its sometimes the most talented players who makes the worst coaches.

With regards to Chris Morgan I think we can all agree that he is a player with pretty limited natural talent, but what he has done is make the absolute most of what he does have. If he can transfer what he has done for himself on to other players then he will make a great coach.

Pemberton was no Cruyff himself, though I get your point. Most defenders can't play like Morgan though, and I'd liked our defensive tactics to be revised. Blackwell carried on what Warnock taught him, Speed did the same and Adams didn't change too much either. Will Morgan's influence mean we'll continue to be set up defensively like we have?

No probs with Morgs as a person, as a motivator and he's the one you want in the trenches with you but he's very old school, as people say, an old-fashioned centre half. As Coops said, if we're looking for a respected figure within Bramall Lane then there's no better person to be involved.

If appointed this is Mcabes way of trying to soften the blow.He must know what the reaction to Wilsons appointment was going to be like.Yet still insisted he is the man.No consideration for the feeling of the fans.
Chris Morgan will be player/coach according to Radio Sheffield.

According to the Daily Mail this morning it will be Frank Barlow (a former Blade).

Barlow would be an obvious choice. I think he was Wilson's assistant at both Wednesday and Bristol City.
He was also a coach at Wednesday when they built their top 3/Cup Finalist side.

A (possibly inaccurate) story tells of a coaching session at Swindon, led by Glenn Hoddle. Apparently his sum total of input when the players couldn`t hit pinpoint 50-yard passes was to hit one himself and remark "thats how you f**king do it...

You wouldn't argue with Morgs tho eh?
If I' f*cked up I think I'd spend half time sat on the pitch :-)

Rumours, apparently from those protestors who had an audience with McCabe, that Eddie Newton will be the new assistant.

Interesting, Newton was RDM's No.2 at WBA. Maybe he was the brains behind the football :)

Didn't the link that Foxy posted a while ago say that he was one that the players liked at WBA with RDM being more aloof?

Just seen Morgan at end of snip of press conf from star
http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foot...danny_wilson_watch_press_conference_1_3425147

As a pro footballer he has just shown how out of touch from reality they are in their cotton lined bubble.
He can go for me as well now -

What did you expect him to say?

We signed Morgan as a struggling footballer from the division below whose history was all with our local rivals. He's done pretty well.

Now Wilson comes along as a manager whose recent past has been one of struggling in the division below, and also as a man with a long history with our local rivals.

Morgan knows better than most how to overcome that stigma. And he's also a professional under contract with SUFC. I can't see any other angle from which he could approach his anwer!
