Will Notts County be more difficult than Villa?

We played very well against Aston Villa. We were well organised and hard working defensively, and our counter attacking was better than in a long time.

Plenty of players have been rightly praised for their individual performances, but we need to thank our organisation and attitude for putting our players in situations where they were able to do well and look good. Our players kept such a solid shape that if a Villa player was able to get past one of ours, he would get tackled by the next one. As they looked to find it beneath them to chase after us, our players actually looked to have more time on the ball than they do in normal League One fixtures.

Villa were dreadful, looking like they had been set up by David Weir as they looked to pass the ball sideways and backwards while also being too cool to move around. They looked like they didn't want to be on the pitch, let alone fight for every loose ball. While we raised our game, they definitely lowered their's.

Realising they were in trouble, they became a bit more direct second half and started chasing a bit more. But they often chased individually and rashly, meaning even the likes of McMahon, Doyle and Flynn could sidestep them.

I expect Notts County, under Derry, to be different. They won't be as good technically, but they will probably be up for it and better prepared. Like us they seem to be in the process of improving. Although the players impressed against Premiership opposition they shouldn't expect an easy game against County.

I expect them to be well-prepared. Greg Abbott was the expert summariser for 5LiveSX on Saturday - he seemed very knowledgeable about our team. If we play as well as we did though last week, we should be able to pick up 3 points comfortably.

Pressure on us we cant afford to lose can see a totally different game and performance to the Villa one where there was no pressure whatsoever on us. Hopefully Clough goes and attacks from the start and if we get we one we go for the second

It seems to happen that when other clubs have a good result against a team from a higher division that they lose their next game.

But we keep playing his brother Chris :(
And for anyone looking to google a pic of said brother Chris - make sure the safe settings are on before posting on here....

There's a lot more riding on this game for us, but more specifically the opposition. The Villa game was wonderful, best I've seen Blades play all season, but clearly Villa's priority is the league, as even their manager played down the importance of the FA Cup hours before the game. SUFC played a blinder, but we also have to remember that Villa played a shocker.

In contrast, County need this. They really do. They're one of the few teams with a worse first half of the season than us (They even lost to us, for God's sake!) and they need to squeeze every possible goal and point out of each game to stay up. So they'll fight for it tooth and nail. Will be a good game.

Very big game for us tomorrow and given our propensity to fuck up in must win games I fully expect an "after the Lord Mayor's show" type of performance.

It'll be more difficult in one respect for sure. Where last week, to a man, the away supporters were more than happy for Villa to carry the game to us and let us shape up, close them down and hit on the break (even though for good periods of the game, 1st 10 of second half for instance, we played on the front foot ). Tomorrow, I suspect, there will be less patience with that kind of approach and we will be expected to have more possesion, make the running and "go for the win".
