It must be a wind-up.

They’ve obviously not seen us play ha ha
Although it will do us a favour if everyone thinks we’re long ball, they’ll keep getting their tactics wrong.

Only problem with having a team that doesn't bore people shitless by playing possession football with their goalkeeper around their own box every week - it doesn't get the 'short passes' count up and moron 'journalists' who don't actually watch the games come out with guff like this.

Most entertaining Blades team I've seen UTB

How these fuckin idiots get jobs in journalism is beyond me.

Someone put the fucking idiot right please.

Amazing how so many of these fuckwits think they can judge things solely on stats.

Not sure whether these (average?) quoted stats are true, but I'm guessing the 'journalist' didn't take them in when putting that piece together...

"The style may not be pretty to watch and won’t work against everyone, but results have certainly been consistent of late. In terms of those stats, they play 340 short passes per game as well as 77 long balls in each match."

I'd be surprised if we played 17 'long balls' in a game.

'The style may not be pretty to watch

WTF has this moron been drinking?!

Lazy, second rate, school newsletter standard journalism at its best/worse.

If you read the stats quoted for each club of short and long passes to date how can the journalist say we are not pretty to watch unless they believe short passrs are tippy-tappy boring?

If anything we dont go 'long' enough but we will now we've got some pace.

If I was a professional journalist, tasked with writing an article like that, about teams I have no idea about, I'm pretty sure after five minutes or so of reading through each forum I'd be well informed enough to write a decently accurate piece.

This bloke is literally just making it up.

A third of that article is shit
100 % shit littered with 0 % sense
MAking 1/3 shit

I'm an advocate for the use of statistics in sport to help understand why things happen. They tend to be of much more value in team sports that are actually one v one (baseball, cricket) or have set plays (NFL). Football moves too quickly and context cannot be defined (what is a long ball? What is a long pass? Did you keep possession etc). Lazy journilism designed for click bait

It makes me fucking sick when people can just write any shit they like without any comeback whatsoever.
The amount of regulatory and compliance shit that I have to dance around while attempting to do my job is frightening.

Because of this I have a severe hatred of anyone that does their job in a half arsed, couldn't give a toss manner.

absolute drivel
but hey if people want to believe it and set up for deane and agana then f#ck them

Actually who gives a toss? Let everyone play us down and we'll just get on with playing exciting attacking football.

What exactly counts as a long pass anyway? 10 yards, 20, 30, 50?

Wasn't it Bob Paisley that said that he wasn't interested in short ball or long ball just whether it was a good ball?

What a load of bollocks that is

The idea that you can define a long ball team simply by looking at two statistics is so flawed it's beyond ridiculous. If you can't be fucking arsed to actually watch us, at least look at possession and pass completion. You don't get 60% possession in most games by leathering it at a fucking target man and playing balls down the channels.

but it's nice they've given Stevie Wonder a job now that he's not liked in the States anymore!

A nothing article. Christ, if his understanding of football and entertainment is based on long and short balls, he has no grasp of what constitutes successful, attractive football. There's a wealth of material on the net why hasn't he done some research?

For what it's worth, I detest these sides that knock short balls along the half way line and backwards. It's only when you get to the final third, you can fully assess how good a side is.

No mention of quality of crosses, speed of counter attack, ability in Zone 14. Shots on target.

Utter bullshit.
