Played far, far too defensive. Either full backs got forward, impossible for Cressy & Quinn to do it on their own. Don't know why DW set them up to play defensively. Never looked like scoring. Can't remember us shooting. Offensively v poor today. Penalties were always going to be a lottery, and with our luck, guess it was inevitable!

Had to play defensively really, we're lacking in attacking force and had Rhodes to deal with - which I think we did today!

I don`t follow the logic of wilsons defensive mindset. tried it v pigs at the piggery and lost. 2nd half v pigs he went for a goalless draw.

Not too sure, still running the sequences through the old silicone chip. What I would say, and its the first critisism I've had of DW, is why, given the conditions and his fitness, didnt DW bring on Porter for Cressy ( or start him) a lot earlier. I thought he posed udds a lot more questions when he did eventually come on. Just an observation.

Only Quinn looked like making anything happen, when we saw the starting 11 didn't contain Mc D I think most of us knew what to expect. Shades of 2009 up front and as in 2009 no creativity in midfield.

what has 5 in the middle got to do with dealing with rhodes?? monty was awful should never had played him.

Apart from the clearance off the line, totally anonymous in my opinion. Is Mcallister really that bad????

Saw the line up and my heart sank.

The utter overdependence on mcD and ched has been viciously exposed of late.as it was all season too.

we were doing just as well without ched in the side.. though it obviously helped when had him! we initially covered the occasion loss of KMac through fioses utness now and again but once we really got in our stride, of course they were going to be the lynchpin of the side. at our level, we were never going to have a KMac/Ched on the bench/in the reserves, they were arguably the best individuals in their positions in the league by a good way. they also played in front of a usually excellent back four which, luckily with hill coming into form at the right time, we managed to recement after the loss of all four of them in one bizarre weekend and midweek which saw us lose two easily winnable games. we didnt really gamble on the loss of evans, we had hoskins who we lost to injury and beattie, whos sendings off were incredible! o'halloran was a the only real gamble and sadly we lost that. to expect us to have the best CM since gordon cowans and the best striker in the league in duplicate is a little wide of the mark, though, surely?

you really are talking rubbish tonight aren't you. How do you know he went for a draw 2nd half ? Did you listen to the team talk. We played at least 2 up front all that game. Weren't Huddersfield defensive for most of the game today....doesn't that make them defensive ?

Difficult to attack when you only have two strikers one playing with pain killing shots in his separated shoulder.
Might have been different if the game was 90 minutes long he could have thrown two on together but when you might have to go an extra 30 and you only have two strikers you have to expect that at least one will run out of gas.

Fuck off. Take Semedo and Antonio/Marshall out of pigs and I bet they would struggle

Leira was pretty solid for them as well and for a defender seems to score the odd crucial goal. Also washing machine started scoring for them in the latter stages.

And they did struggle without Marshall, which makes it all the more galling that we could not take advantage and still contrived to let them overtake us.

They had a fantastic run, and we lost our main striker through no fault of the club. It's really that simple, surely?

like watching a train crash in slow motion this year since Mc D picked up that injury.

we got to the penalty shoot out with a half blind half crocked ancient CF playing 70mins and our under-rehearsed CF the rest of the 50... some amazing saves and misses leave it 1-0 after 6 pens... we eventually lose out on the 11th penalty, taken by both goalies. yes we shouldve beat Tranmere at home, *them* at home, XYZ results you can call up we took the season right up to the slenderest wire and JUST lost out.

and you forgot Oldham.the turning point of the season was MacD's hamstring.. everyone in the ground knew it .. it was fucking weird actually

absolute rubbish and if you look at the results for the last 12 games for both clubs you will see that. Ours was promotion form. The Pigs were in Tile winning form with a record points total

The game plan was perfect. What else could he do with his hands tied. No strikers no McDonald. Did marvellous to keep Rhodes and their chances to a minimum.

All it needed was someone to tap in one of the cross box balls we put in and it woulda been a masterstroke from Wilson. Did you know Rhodes hasnt scored against us?!? Testiment to how good our midfield and defence are!

Basically, we ran out of players and we ran out of luck.

Not at all surprised Simmo missed his pen. Yes, I know their goalie scored, but you should always score a penalty. Simmo, from trying to save their penalty trotted towards the spot, placed the ball, walked 3 or 4 yards further, turned round and - for the first time - saw a totally alien environment. After getting his view from between the sticks for 2 hours, he suddenly was confronted by 20k Hudders fans with their fucking clackers. Just like walking from bright sunshine into a dingy pub, you need time to acclimatise, and Simmo didn't get the acclimatisation period you get if you're stood with the others on the halfway line and have a bit of time to ready yourself as you approach the ball.

My thoughts, anyway.

He had the look of a man who wanted to get it over and done with. Agree with you, should have been more composed, but also there's no way he should have even been put in that position.

I thought he rushed it and should have taken more time to compose himself.
Having said that I have no blame on Simmo because he was excellent during the match and he shouldn't have been in that position in the first place. If the lads before him had done their job we would have won in the regulation 5.

Your opinion only bart

The game plan was perfect.

Wow.

All it needed was someone to tap in one of the cross box balls we put in and it woulda been a masterstroke from Wilson.

Yeh, if only we had, you know, another striker on the field to do that.
