Why did SoD say no???

Thats if he has of course but if reports are correct and we did talk to him and he decided against it what do you think the reason(s) was/were?

He was asked to work on a shoe string?
He didn't want to leave his hero status?
He didn't like how we ran the club?
Simply bottled it?

Just wondered if anyone had inside info or had there own opinion.

I can't personally understand why (if he has) he turned us down, United have a lot more to offer ie training facilities, academy, ground etc etc. I think he has taken donny as far has he can and even if i take my blades specs of if it was me United would be a great and massive challenge.

I see it that he's had talks and that's it for the moment. Both teams have got a big run of games coming up in a short space of time, hence, the delay in definitely pinpointing anybody. There may be an agreement in place that neither party want any disruption in preparation for these games.
I don't think he's out of the running at all. At no point has S'OD or JR said he's definitely not joining us.

think the main reason why he wont come is the time frame he wants to change things he has a 3 or 4 year plan and i don't think he thinks the fans will give him time to do it.

There is no confirmation that anyone has said yes or no to anything yet. SSN posted un-supported headlines that SOD was staying when nothing has been confirmed yet. I wouldnt jump to any conclusions and it certainly isnt worth worrying about. Whoever comes in will be the right man for SUFC because the appointment will reflect our true position.....whether it ends up being a good or bad one!

My views on SOD and his final decision (if we offer him the job at all) are;

- If he comes, he is obviously ambitious and wants to take on a new challenge at a bigger club.

- If he stays, then he's not the right man for SUFC. It would show that he is in his comfort zone at Donny and does not have bigger aspirations.....which may or may not be the case.

Either way it will be his decision and his prerogative. To be the right man he has to want it! Speculating about how good he might be for us is irrelevant at a time when we dont know how passionate he is about becoming manager. Just let it pan out..........

Personally, I'd be amazed if he got a bigger club than United. He's had some recent success at a small town club, with little expectation or pressure. The Donny Chairman - & some on here - are really going overboard on how good he is. He may join us & prove to be a success - but he's not really proved himself yet in my opinion.

why would he come,the guy has principles and a long term footballing plan,with a chairman that backs him to the hilt,and i would guess SoD has enough sense to realise that he would not get enough time time,we have now gone back to the dark days of adrian heath/mike mcdonald.total disarray.picture this,SoD arrives at bdtbl,saves us from relegation,gets rid of the donkeys,brings in academy players and a few unheard of players gets us playing total football a togetherness lets say,then the board think, hey we could make a few ££££s selling the crown jewels as usual ring any bells.what a lot of fans forget,we are not a premiership club nor a massive club we are a poor championship club at present,we are getting as bad as the other big club,how ??? from being one of the best run clubs in the league, and now have a owner who is distancing himself from the club as much as possible,i.e. installing a new chairman.the club as no ambition at present,in my opinion they lost that ambition on two counts 1.when they sold james beattie who would have guaranteed the goals,2 when bramall lane lost out in the world cup draw fiasco. however,we have the scope to be a big club but not like they are performing at present

Perhaps Highbury but if that is the case he has an undeserved sense of accomplishment. The man has done a GOOD job at Donny, but I find the regard he's held in (in this region) totally over the top. He is a good second tier manager that is massively overrated IMO.

If he thinks he is deserving of a bigger club then fair enough and there is nothing wrong with ambition, but to me he's got a lot to prove before he will get PL clubs knocking on the door. Talk of the likes of Wigan and Wolves makes me laugh. As if clubs like that (fighting to stay in the PL) are going to hang their hopes on a manager at a bottom half Championship side who is vaguely known outside this region!
