Of all our bench-warmers in recent games, who most deserves a place in the first team?

If you could only pick one current sub to be starting, who would it be? Also comment who you would drop to make-way for them and what position you would play them in.

I'd say Adams.

He won't improve unless he plays regularly.

I'd say Adams if it wasn't for his dip in form. But Campbell-Ryce. As frustrating as he is with the final ball, he's positive and more often than not looks to beat his man. You can never have enough of those types of players, especially on the wings. He adds width and generally favours more of an attacking style of play, which is how we should be looking to set up for every game.

I like JCR, he only seems to get to play in fits and starts, and that can't help his form. That said he's the player most likely to benefit from a big man up front for him to cross to. Skinning his man to cross to Sharp and Done can be a bit of a pointless excercise with their aerial ability.

I'd like to see Adams partner Sharp on front, with Done coming on as an impact player after an hour or so. Other than that, I see the above as cover only.

We should be using JCR and Adams from the bench a lot more than we are doing. It's disappointing that results were so bad at the start of the year (due to our useless defence) that we've had to revert to the horrible Clough like football we're now enduring to try and grind out results.

But I'm not sure anyone from our bench really "deserves" to be starting, it's not like they've not all had plenty of chances to impress.

The Adams and JCR supporters seem to have a voice...who will speak up for Baxter?

I'd had enough of Baxter with his Summer hearing, but he started the season well and it all got more or less forgotten. Then he's had this internal disciplinary matter and it's hard to argue with a manager for side-lining him for a while.

I voted for Che but I understand with his personal issues recently that it might also be fair not to put too much pressure on him right now.

After that it's a choice for me between Flynn or JCR, depending on whether we need attack or defence more. That side is naturally weaker because of McEveley but I'm struggling to see what Woolford offers in any department.

I think he has the right starting 11 but Campbell Ryce and Adams are very useful to bring on from the bench. If we'd not used all our subs on the likes of Reed on Saturday, we could have brought one or both on when Swindon scored and given them something very different to think about.

At times I'd be tempted to play one of them instead of Woolford and Sammon over Done.

Voted for jcr,

He might be frustrating but at least he lifts the crowd and tries to make something happen, there's worse players on the pitch, and sometimes he'll put it on a plate for the strikers and they'll miss, Oldham away being a perfect example when scougs and sharp both missed empty nets from a yard out..

Don't think jcr has been treated fairly at all

I'm not too surprised by the results here. Woolford is probably our most "droppable" player, so it makes sense that his most obvious replacement gets the most votes. But I've not seen much from Adams this season to say that he's the best of our subs. Ive seen JCR look more exciting than any of the starting XI but too often there is no end product, so I'll step up and say Baxter would be my no 1 sub who should start. he's changed games for us many times, as long as he's not played in a deep lying role where he is very ineffective.

That said it'll only be possible if the defence is shored up with a transfer or 2 so we don't have to play Hammond and Basham together.

It depends on the club/situation, but on Satdi Campbell-Ryce, Adams or Sammon would have all been better options that the 3 we did bring on.

Can Baxter vote for himself?once maybe but 7 bloody times.GET RID hes a liability who brings nowt to the team.
Appreciate he's our marmite player amongst fans but the number of goals and assists he has both this season and last suggests he brings a hell of a lot more than nowt to the team. The problem is to get the best out of him we need to play one up top but that's unlikely. Away from home I'd try a 5 man midfield with Billy up top and let us see if we can get hold of a game rather than the opposition dictating

Baxter - played in his proper position where he can influence the game - not putting him on with 20 mins to go, and ask him to play as a defensive midflelder - which is not his game. Stupid from Adkins - he might as well put George Long upfront to top it off.

A liability who brings nowt to the team

Apart from goals, assists and incisive forward passes when played in the right role not as defensive base of some bizarre diamond.

I would drop Long like a bad habit and replace him with Howard instantaneously.

Baxter got 16 votes and starts. JCR got 22 votes and starts. Sammon got..er..one vote and starts.
