2 years ago we beat Charlton in a quarter final at the Lane were on a great run in the league and optimism was abound - I even remember posts on here after Hull saying this was the birth of a 'new United' that played football.

My question is where do people genuinely think we'll be 2 years from now?

I think if we stick with the long term plan and keep Adkins we will be in the championship but I fear that we will be on here, moaning about the current manager, possibly the successor to the successor of mr Adkins. Worryingly I think I know which is more likely

Mid table in League One with a hoofball merchant and a bunch of rotten little bastards who don't want to be footballers, all after a bright two month spell towards the end of the 2016/17 season which convinced everyone to buy a season ticket.

League 1- About 6th. Some saying we might go up, others saying we won't. Some saying sack the manager. Others saying stop selling our best players. Some saying McCabe is the one constant. Some saying we never replaced Collins and McEveley. Some saying it's the fans fault. Some saying it's the players. Some looking forward to next season when all the dross Adkins (or whoever we replace him with between now and the end of the season) singed are out of contract only to be let down when the board don't sanction signings of anything other than dross. Some will be calling for Neil Warnock to come out of retirement to restore our glory years. Some will be saying Billy Sharp should be our manager. Diego De Girolamo will still somehow be here without playing any more first team football.

Mid-table in League One, under another manager with dwindling crowds, having virtually lost the next generation of fans because I also think Wednesday will be in the top flight.

We will be fucked for the next 20 years, if not forever having blown our big chance to really become the dominant side in Sheffield

If we can avoid disaster next season then stabilised in mid table league one.

If we are relegated next season then possibly facing a winding up order.

I may have gone with that, apart from the comment about never replaced Collins and McEveley. Pretty sure even the daftest Blade won't be saying that. I've found replacements for them already on Amazon. For some reason, it appears you get a free Scougall replacement thrown in.

Exactly where we are now, if we're lucky. With the same people who criticised Adkins criticising our second manager following Adkins' sacking and the same people who defended Adkins saying 'give him a chance'.
