When it's done the Blades way is the answer, I guess.
I realise that the Budgie Smuggler is looking to play in the modern way with a 4-3-3 so that we have a strong defensive unit in a 4-5-1 when we don't have the ball and a fluid attacking capability when we do get hold of the ball and break on the opposition. However, all I see is us defending in a 4-5-1 and then leaving Ched on his tod in a 4-5-1 when we are attacking. Fine if you have someone like Drogba up front but we have, well, Ched.
Playing a more passing game doesn't mean you have to be ultra defensive all the time and the formation deployed, coupled with the lack of pace and the dirth of attack minded players in midfield means that we will forever be holding on in a rearguard action - waiting to be picked off 1-0 every time. I'll bet it's the same at the City Ground tomorrow night.
I am sure that he is looking at this situation but Yeates must be absolutely shite in training based on all the bench warming he is doing. 4-3-3 demands some pace on the break in wide positions so it must be time for Budgie to get Yeates in, especially now Wardy is going to be out for a three game sussy.
Contrast this with WBA and Blackpool who both bought an attacking midfielder (Dorans and Adams) to pull the strings and made all the difference. We never seem to be linked to any player of this nature. Only defensive ones - The Blades Way still pervades.
