.............. it had been you and not us last season?

Two questions for you fine upstanding citizens of the north:

1) If you had edged out McLeish's B&W army and got promoted how would you have strengthened and how do you think you would be doing now?

2) What's happened?????????? I didn't expect you to take the division by storm this year, but I did think you would be serious contenders again. And you're not. Nor even close. What's the problem?

1) I think, but I wouldn't be 100% sure, that it would have signalled some significant investment from McCabe to keep us in the top flight and help with his ground development/2018 campaign.
I suspect we would have taken the Stoke approach and tried to emulate their style and first season results. I don't know how we would have fared.

2) The investment has been dramatically in reverse. Re-profiling (a bullshit word for a bullshit policy) has resulted in a poorer squad and a poorer team. The manager is poor and can't get the best out of the players he has.
I wish it had been us!

1) I don't think we'd have sold as many players as we have done. But we'd have also kept some of the underachievers that we got rid of in the summer thanks to the Play off defeat.
Paddy probably wouldn't have been suspended as he failed his drug test after the Play off semi.

We've trimmed the squad, which I also think would've been on the agenda if we'd gone up "Quality not quantity", But I think we'd have brought in another Centre Half, A strong centre midfielder and a couple of wingers... These could well have been the cheapo signings we've made this summer.

2) Wheres it gone wrong this year? Sold quality players and also trimmed the squad too much and relied on loans. Injuries have been a major problem, but all things considered we've just been on a poor run, this was after one of our best starts to the season for years. The recovery has started and players are coming back from Injuries now, but we need to put a run together. Theres still 2/3 of the season left and the despite the worrying slide down the league, the club haven't started to panic (yet).

Fortunately, the club have realised that we can't get by with such a small squad and are hopefully going to tie up permanent deals.

Because of the summer sales and because we've not made the replacements we'll do well to make the play offs.
