With all the competition we have for players and stuff this isn't a big enough kick up the arse to get them playing.
If it was me and I have players breathing down my neck from the bench and fringes that play the same position as me then I would want to play out of my skin to keep my shirt and keep them off the pitch. Other than in the opening 20 minutes of games it isn't happening.
We have added competition more or less all over the pitch now. This meets "The Clough Philosophy" of nobody being guaranteed a place in the starting XI, they have to work for it. If Clough is true to his words and rules then after 2 unsuccessful games this should be the end of a starting place for certain players now surely.
What do you do? We have replacements? Do you drop players and bring others in who hopefully want it more after sitting on the bench or do you push the ones who so far have flopped and try and get it all to gel and fit in place. Why aren't players giving 100% at the minute to keep the shirt?
