but if you do that to remove judgement from handball , surely only time seperates all players going down will get penalties , just so theres no grey areas

Not really.......

Scenario A - "A player goes to ground" - There is nothing in there that tells me if there has been a foul or not
Scenario B - "The ball strikes a players hand" - There is clear evidence here that the ball has, at some point, come into contact with a players hand.

You can't get rid of all grey areas, but does that mean we shouldn't want to get rid of any? Let's get rid of goal line technology shall we?
