Wembley celebrating 10 years, so illuminating in the colours of teams that have played there since the re-opening of Wembley, so our colours shown because of the Semi final (FA cup) and the play off final.

Wednesday will be on there for fucking up in the play-offs last year.

I love the timing of this, just after Wednesday missed out! As Jim Bully would say! Here's what you could have had!

A half interesting sufc wembley story a mate reminded me of recently.

In 1993 when sufc was drawn against the not so massives in the FA cup it was announced soon after the match would be at Elland road or somewhere. It looked like we wouldn’t all get tickets so one of our southern blades mob, who shall remain nameless but has a prominent and well respected academic job, decided he’d do something about it.

He was in London so went to the FAs Lancaster Gate office and asked to speak to the head of the FA, Graham Kelly, about arrangements for the FA semis. He was made to wait in reception and was told they were checking if Mr Kelly would see him.

It was lunchtime and after a while Kelly walked past my mate and straight out of the building and down the street. My mate caught up with him and explained how ticket demand would be too high for Bellend road and as a keen supported he was cheesed off he probably wouldn’t get a ticket and why couldn’t it be switched to Wembley.

Kelly didn’t show much of a reaction but the next day it was switched to Wembley. Remarkable co-incidence.

That Southern Blade cost us getting to the Cup Final, yes more of our fans got in that day,but had the game been played at Elland Road,on a bobbly uneven surface, with our crowd breathing down Wobblys neck,we would have beaten Wednesday

Well tell that mate of yours he's an arsehole :), I had booked a weeks holiday in Spain and was coming back for the Sunday game at Elland Rd only for it to be switched to Wembley on the Saturday. Cost me over £300 to fly back a day early and had to leave the Mrs in Spain to fly back on her own with all the luggage, what a bad week that turned out to be.

Can't say I agree, not convinced the pitch was the deciding factor but each to their own opinion. We had a good boozy day though despite the result. Maybe if we have a few poor results next season we should put a few lumps and mole hills in the desso.

The perfect Wembley surface and bigger playing area was perfect for a Wednesday team containing the likes of Sheridan and Twaddle,we could have played our up and at em,in your face style a lot better at Elland Road, then produced a magnificent backs to the wall smash and grab performance to beat the Gunners, and win the FA Cup,

Think seeing all of Sheffield at Wembly custioned the blow.
Funny that, the loss wasn't that painful although some will have been mortified.

Always remember seeing the touts leave early and hearing one say to another 'no one wants to sell'
