When I started going to The Lane in 1965 I'd never heard of Burton never mind Burton Albion, later I always associated Burton with ale. No disrespect to them (in fact a massive well done) but I never thought I would see the day when they would be in front of us possibly heading to the promised land.
Speaks volumes about both clubs - I think that we should send an undercover agent to find out their winning formula on gates of 3000 - maybe they looked at us and worked out how NOT to do it

The winning formulae were Gary Rowett and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank and it has to be said, to some degree a young Nigel Clough at the lower levels.

It's all about managers.

It's only a matter of time before they're back where they belong.
Like Yeovil , Crawley, Stevenage

I don't think Burton will go up this season. JFH has left and taken El Khayati with him to QPR.
Burton are lacking self-belief at the moment...but they should win comfortably on Tuesday.:(

I wonder if we should consider making a move for their manager next year................whoever he is.
Surely if he gets Burton Albion up to the Championship he must be excellent.

Or, maybe he'd struggle here like all the others

Watched them against Southend they was garbage
Top of the league and they took a minibus full of fans fucklng joke

I feel confident he would

Yes, he'd probably struggle like all others before him who have yet to find the method of winning in the manner that Sheffield United have made their trademark and the boardroom insists on. Turgid, boring, slow, unimaginative, uneventful, unfit and undisciplined.
Any win that doesn't involve the above raises our meagre expectations a little too much and is therefore not acceptable

Maybe this is why our managers can't win games, they have yet to find a way of doing it that is acceptably crap enough

To be honest with ya Seanshoreham, I'd never heard on burton, until these little bad boys came out FC-pack-125gLR-e1389113188893.jpg
Oh my childhood was great ;)

What possible relevance can the size of Burton's away following have to anything at all ?
So they don't have many fans ? So what ? It's not a big old traditional Club.
In my view the occupants of that minibus are more to be admired for their loyalty to a small Club than the teenage twats who latch themselves on to an old and traditionally well supported Club like mine , for the sole purpose of loutish cowardly behaviour , like yesterday at Rochdale.

With all due respect to Burton when we played them at there place I was gutted it finished 0-0. I thought they were there for the taking but we either didn't have the belief we could beat them or were content for a point. How the mindset at Sheffield United has slowly changed over the last 5 years

Burton have done incredibly well. I'm not a huge Clough fan, but he was on a hiding to nothing going there. If they don't get promoted its all his fault, if they do its not his team.

Yes it it all about managers but also about players and how they react to change .

Tha game against Burton will be interesting , as both managers will desperately want to win this one , and we will see how the blades players approach the game from a confidence , tactical and effort point of view . Players can get managers sacked by there non performances .

The nail in Adkins coffin at Reading was the 6-1 loss to Birmingham , were the players must have just given up , making Adkins position untenable to continue as manager.

I think we will learn more of the Adkins / player character relationship , and for his sake and ours , the result is not a Reading repeat .

It's a big big if. ! but If the players and manager are in unison , there is no reason why we cannot get something out of this game .

Ok, so i've been working on writing Adkins' pre match interviews for him.

And listen, we're going to go there with the intent to win, its about attitude and we've got a great attitude here at Sheffield United Football Club. We went to Rochdale, a hard place to go, we set ourselves up to be positive, in an attacking way and we were extremely lucky to lose 2-0. If it wasn't for their keeper and them scoring two goals we might have been looking at a different result.

But listen, we're not going to beat ourselves up about it, we will work hard again to set ourselves up in a positive way, because thats what we do, we're positive people, we like to be positive.

We're expecting Nigel Clough to come to play us at Sheffield United Football Club with a team. Nigel will want to do well here, because he was here before, but also because they're fighting for promotion as well and we'll do our best to replicate a winning mentality like the one we saw versus Port Vale. We'll try to be positive and go for the win and with the right attitude and hard work. And if we fall short we will start again on the next game, but we'll keep positive and fight for promotion....

This is highest they're going to get in their history this is the lowest point we've been at since 81.
The whole set up of Burton is L2/ National league.
Even the thought of them being the top of our division sickens me.
By the way the fans who are vandalising and other bollocks sickens me and are an embarrassment to the club.
Apart from Old Traford Millwall will be my first away day we will see if this crew are as boisterous their

That's an extremely bitter view.

The reason that they're above us is because they've earned it. And all the best to them.

We just need to get our own house in order.

They are set up to be a league 2 side with the odd foray into league 1 and the odd relegation to the Conference.

They are punching above their weight and won't sustain it long term, but why not let them enjoy a bit of success, a fairy tale for many of their fans - I love stories of David over Goliath - surely that is the beauty of sport?

Not sure why it would 'sicken you' - very bitter view.

A sincere apology in public takes courage but earns respect , fair play Lane Ender ☺
