That's our problem.

I hate players hounding the referees, on a moral and footballing level. Yet one of the greatest sides of all time Barcelona, under Pep Guardiola, did it all the time to great effect.

If we had caused a scene, especially Wilder, things may have ended up very differently today and force Oliver (who I don't blame) to look at the monitor.

We have more class,thankfully.

Well I do blame the referee, he could have looked at VAR and awarded it but didn't have the minerals.

Surrounding the ref would’ve done nothing. The watch didn’t buzz, VAR didn’t for whatever reason overrule it, and the ref is nothing more than a tool to keep the match flowing these days. They don’t make big calls because they’re scared of them being wrong.

You don’t blame the referee who is paid a handsome wage to make much more difficult decisions than this
One and who has a handsomely paid assistant to help him?

They had 4 eyes on it and ignored what they saw

My dog could referee with a watch and an earpiece

I do blame him and no amount of apologising will make me think he hasn’t abdicated his professional responsibility and he isn’t fit to referee again

Isn't hounding the ref even more banned than usual under the current coronavirus rules?

Considering the ball was ‘in play’, our players surrounding the referee could’ve resulted in a mass overload of Villa players running at Henderson

Given they have admitted blame I wonder if there is a case for suing Hawkeye if this costs us a Euro or Champions League place. UTB

I wouldn’t normally condone it but remonstrating would have meant that VAR saw the reaction and maybe thought ‘perhaps I’d better hold up play and have a closer look’.

But that's not how it works is it? VAR monitor every incident and intervene if necessary. Could the ref himself have stopped play at this point and called for VAR? Why is all this so bloody confusing.

Refs looking at a monitor 2 meteres away would have given the goal to Liverpool

It will balance out over the season........they said.
That's what a Villa fan has just said to me, followed by lots of smilies. He also said Wilder is a moaning git. Of course Dean Smith would have said nothing....

Sunrise, sunset.

Wilder has cottoned onto this line of thinking, personally I hope we start surrounding referees and scream at them if it helps us get decisions to go our way.

I also want us to start diving at every opportunity, feigning injury and winding the opposition up to try to get red cards.

The world is how you find it not as you'd like it to be, the game is different and not how it should be sadly. Until/unless that changes we need to change to be the best at it.

Well for me Arsenal have imported the dark arts with Arteta - Peps taught him well on the finer points.

Don't get me started on Xhaka!

It is also where you buy a free kick. Arsenal know exactly when and where they want to a win a cheap free kick.

Agreed - it's a lesson that we have to learn and take today on the chin.

Man City are good at breaking up play and moving cynical challenges around the team.

For all I know, Arteta may have been the instigator of that at Man City - for sure Arsenal now emply the same tactics.

When Xhaka went down on the far side, Tierney was taken in by it - even the idiot that is Macmanaman said Xhaka was on his way down even before touched. To be fair, our best example is Baldock who seems to use the dark arts very well.

We need to get cuter next season and start practising this season, ready for next.

Baldock seems to be the only one that is switched on to it. That is how we get those free kicks for Norwood to whip in on the right side.

Indeed - think back to the penalty v Blackburn at home - prime example - get in front, stop running - foul.
