I went to the Town match today.
It has to be said they look an entirely different team now Grayson has had them for a few more weeks.
I saw them in what I think was his second match in charge against Rochdale and they were quite poor. I had no worries over them as contenders.
Against Charlton today they looked a much more coherent unit. He has sorted out the back four and they look very solid. Apart from a well saved header Charlton did not look like they would score. Charlton had lots of possession and looked good going forward but Huddersfield played really well and contained anything that was thrown at them.
Having said that they scored from a deserved penalty but also the Charlton defense were generally equal to anything Huddersfield attempted.
It was a tight game and possibly if Charlton had not gone down to 10 men they may well have equalised.

Anyway it all makes for an interesting final few games. Im sure they will be several twists and turns before then.
I jusy hope Town play that well against the pigs.

Need a really strong performance on Wednesday to put the willies up charlton

In the 6 game form predictor Huddersfield are now on to get third place with 87 points if they keep going at the current rate. On their season's form it would be 86 points. After todays game they have turned it around and are doing about 7% better over the last 6 games than over the season.

Only they and Wednesday are currently above their season's average performance under the current run.

It's looking more likely that the winner (if there is one) of the Hudss v Weds fixture on the 6th/7th april will be our main challengers...

...of course, win against chessie and Hartlepool, and one of them will have to win that game to stand any chance of going above us before our game against Bournemouth...

...and of course, of their remaining 8 games, Hudds only have 3 at home and 5 away...

Charlton are a poor side IMO. They were lucky to beat the pigs and us. They got two late goals to beat Exeter a couple of weeks later and scraped a point against Bury. Maybe just maybe their luck has run out and we can catch them and then pass them. Eight straight wins is a lot to ask but we have done it before and if we do then we will be singing "We are the champions"

Really? Top of the league, looking likely champions, and they're "a poor side"? You could maybe argue that they've been lucky on the odd occassion, but all season? No. Charlton are where they are for a reason, and it's not because they are lucky.

While it would be great to see the blades to beat Chesterfield convincingly and march on to finish champions I just can't see it. Not because I'm overtly pessimistic but just because Charlton have a knack of getting point when it counts. Granted from what I've seen Charlton aren't anything special football wise, at times it's quite ugly to watch but they get the results they need.

They do, however have some form for losing against teams you would expect them to beat. We need Charlton to continue their dip in form and the blades to continue theres. I hope hope hope this happens but would I put money on it?...hmmm...

From seeing them quite a bit, I'd suggest they have a points gap from luck. They'd still be in and around the top on merit though :)

Re: the original post, I concur that Hudds are looking increasingly potent and a nice challenge to Wendy - S6 has got more to worry about than just us...

But in respect of Stanny's observation, from an actual footballing POV I agree...sure they grind out the results, but their 'skill' is just in that. Not pretty to watch but the top for this very reason...And sure, it would be good if they keep up their current form...lets see what the next month has in store

UTB!
