Warnock blast at McCabe

FORMER United boss Neil Warnock today hit back at chairman Kevin McCabe after he questioned Warnock's ability to manage at the highest level.
Warnock resigned as Blades boss after United were agonisingly relegated from the Premiership on the last day of the season and McCabe later went on record that Warnock was "maybe not right for our Premiership ambitions".

But today the manager who took United up to the Premiership 12 months earlier said: "When I heard Kevin's comments that maybe I wasn't the right man to manage in the Premiership, I think he lets himself down, I was very disappointed when I heard that.

"I think he loses credibility when he makes comments like that. It makes me think that he did not want me at the club for the past couple of years.

"I could have said a lot of hurtful things too, but I didn't.

"I rang Kevin up and told him what I thought of what he said. He said he had been misquoted and that he would write to the papers but I told him not to bother.

"It has been obvious for a couple of years that Kevin has really wanted a Kenny Dalglish or Bryan Robson type of manager,"added Warnock, currently on a family holiday in Cornwall.

"An ex-international sells the club when you are trying to bring in quality players."

TV pundit Warnock revealed he had turned down a television contract and admitted he may have to go down to the Chamionship for his next managerial challenge.

"I said I was hoping to get something in the Premiership but there isn't anything likely to come up," said the 58-year-old. "I would like a club with a 25,000-plus fan base that I could take up to the Premiership. It would be a great challenge to win my seventh promotion."

Warnock resigned after seven-and-a-half years at Bramall Lane after a home defeat by Wigan condemned the Blades to relegation.

"I think it was the right time to go," he said. "So that someone new could come in and be given more of a chance if things went wrong.

Im sure McCabe said that stuff about Warnock ages ago.

Come on Warnock keep up just coz your struggling to find work back in football at the moment. :)

I don't see how Warnock can argue. He got a shot at managing in the Premiership and got us relegated. Whichever way you toast it, he failed

Exactly plus anything to get attention really since he has been rejected from every job he has been linked with. Although i think he is losing the plot now it was only the other week he was claiming to be a better manager than Sven.
