I didn't think Wimbledon played particularly badly, in the first half, especially. They played some nice football and Tom Elliott looks like a good player. He's tough, good in the air and not without a bit of skill on the floor either. They are certainly not the first team to get a chasing at the Lane this season, nor were they the worst.

If only we were that good with promotion guaranteed.............still much work to do but a very impressive home win today!

"James Hanson and Billy Sharp are almost unplayable as a partnership" that makes for pleasant reading as Billy has hardly been supported this season and still has 20 gaols.

Cheers Panchero!

To be fair, AFC Wimbledon were another typical League 1 side, big and strong, and didn't resort to foul play too much, wish them well in the future.

Four good goals today, a strong performance and sets us up nicely for Peterborough next week.

i was quite impressed that they never gave up.. until extra time at least then they sort of switched off .. i thought they were as good as gillingham but didn't get lucky like they did
the lad that came in late looked a decent player

Have to admit that 831 fans for them is a great support as was rreading earlier that they didnt think taking that many. Do like that club as they dont have delusions of grandeur and are realistic in their ambitions - as Chris would say "proper club"

They are right. I have no intention of ever visiting league one again after April.

best quote
“It’s inconceivable that Sheffield United will be in the same division as AFC Wimbledon next season.Their January outlay alone signified a team that have no intention of visiting Kingsmeadow as a League One side this time next year.James Hanson and Billy Sharp are almost unplayable as a strike partnership at this level and they know their system, a three-man defence, inside out.”

couldnt wish for a better review

“There are teams you don’t want to be chasing the game against in League One and then there’s Sheffield United.”

:)

I think three good goals and an absolute gift from their goalie in the second minute. :D

Thing is Punkster, as Mrs Grappler commented at the time, that is exactly the sort of goal that usually goes in against us, nice for it to be us for once!

Agree it was a bit fortuitous but they all count pal.

Post on there about, sums up 80% of our fixtures because is huge gulf in finances between us & Wimbledon. We have probably biggest in this league & sure the Wimbledon chairman said their budget wouldn't even be in top 10 of league 2 so massively overachieveing

I haven't heard it myself but my dad said Wilder was quoted as saying Sharp loved playing up front with Hanson.

Just looked on the Youtube channel to see his interview and was greeted by this

With the money men in the championship now, is our budget a championship budget like opposition fans seem to suggest. I thought ours wasn't even the biggest in this league anymore? We've not spent out of our means, infact player sales have probably covered expenses. I think we've just built a decent team, and are playing good football instead of buying the league like some fans suggest.

I agree

I thought they effectively man marked our midfield 1st half with an out ball to Elliott, who looked a handful.

Even at 1-0 it was probably their best strategy but Fleck-Duffy-Freeman-Hanson destroyed their game plan.

2nd half they had to do something different and got torn apart.

In effect they were another team that had "worked us out", but an early goal makes all the difference as does a leader at CB to stop the stupid goals
