Confused by the people saying we were quiet. We weren't at all. It wasn't the best away end ever or anything but both sides seemed to take it in turns to dominate in terms of loudness. I was really impressed with their home support but the idea we were just stood there not singing is nonsense.
Wasn't there yesterday but from previous visits there home support is as good as it gets in this country, which these days there are very very few places with any atmosphere tbh.

Edit: deleted, I just noticed you answered my question.....

....and cheers

Indeed, it was good support from both, although they did suffer a bit like we do with "need excuse to support" syndrome

Cheers Roy

United away support isn't what it was vocally though. The lane has been dead for years and it's starting to be the same away from home now too tbh. New generation of fans I think.

It’s something I've been saying for a while, especially after watching United play at home and away. Over the last three or four seasons—pretty much since Wilder left and COVID hit—I feel like our fans have been pretty quiet, both at home and on the road.

There have been a few games where we’ve really brought the noise back, like against Hull and Everton, but for the most part, we’ve been a bit of a subdued crowd (granted performances last season deserved that) The promotion season with Hecky was strange, and it feels like our expectations have really changed since we finished in the top 10 19/20.

Take that match against Derby, for example—Wilder got booked because he was trying to get the fans hyped up by interacting with the Derby player.

I’m not pointing fingers here; I might be part of the problem too. I go to the games, but I can see how a nervous atmosphere can definitely effect the players.

Cheers Panchero!

Schrödinger’s fans.

They were the best home support I’ve come across for years. We were decent but if you’re at the end of one of their sides all you’d have heard was Pompey.
I sit in the fratton end 5 rows from the front. Opposite the away fans and barely heard the Sheffield fans yesterday. Couple of little spells when you had a corner and after the game, that was about it. you can see a few bouncing around and singing in there but It's hard to hear the away end unless it's particularly rowdy when the home support is good. Only a few teams come down and really make themselves heard. The best we've had there in recent years was Carlisle which surprised me.

You’d struggle to hear the Sheffield fans as they were busy losing at home to Bridlington.

As I’ve now said twice: we were pretty good but that was the best home support I’ve seen for years. Of course you struggled to hear us when your fans were making a proper racket.

Considering Pompy played quite well yesterday, it seems strange that they are more interested in away supporters noise than bullying up their team.
I know another club like that. :D

The away support was either the best for a long while or the worst for a long time, sheffield united were either a quality team or an atrocious team, come on fellas make up your mind

I thought we backed the team well yesterday. Had a bit of a quiet spell in the first half when they started getting on top a bit but other than that thought we were loud and proud!

The home support was loud. You don’t often see home support like that where the whole stand(s) seems to join in.

Good old fashioned club Pompey, like the ground, good day out for a 0-0.
