Why is everyone crying out for Collins? He is past it, the amount of times he cost us a goal for being to slow to react, or slipping and doing the splits.
It's not a case of crying out for him mate, but he's clearly the best CB we have which says a lot about our recruitment for this position more than anything.

Any defender currently on the books !!
The only decent central defender on the books apart from Collins is injured[/QUOTE]

Are you saying Collins is a decent central defender these days.? If he is fit (as the conspiracy theorists would have you believe) there hasn't exactly been a queue of clubs wanting to take him on loan (as I am sure NC would have let him go)

Up to around 6 weeks ago, Jay M was playing excellently and was rightly playing in that position. Yes he has hit a poor run of form but he has started to improve since (and including) the Bristol game. Basham and Kennedy are certainly better than Collins in that position and if Alcock shows his early season form he would be.

Don't get me wrong, we need a commanding and experienced centre half (which would then mean we can put Basham in midfield) but if fans believe Collins is the answer they are clearly forgetting how poorly he was playing before he was dropped

We had one but our glorious leader shipped him out to Donny

Collins might not be the answer but he's the closest we're going to get while he's on our books mate, that is all people are saying. McEveley started off quite sound in that position but has since shown why he's a left back, Basham has been relatively sound but has also shown lapses in concentration and would play a lot better with a leader next to him, telling him where to be and how to go about his buisness better.

Disagree with the final sentence.

Manager Nigel Clough on Injuries, Neil Collins and criticising his players: https://t.co/zUKCyfV9q2
Cheers for this mate. He has a little dig at the fans regarding JCR, what he doesn't realise is that the ones who don't want JCR, who asked for him to come off in certain games aren't necessarily the same fans who have wanted him to stay. I know i have never asked for him to come off, nor have i said i'm glad he's gone, i think what i'm trying to say is that Cloughy shouldn't be tarring every fan with the same brush.

But wait on, in one sentence Jay Mc gets a second chance for a poor run of form, but then in the final sentence Collins does not? He was more than adequate last season so why are we suddenly writing him off after a couple of poor games.

There is not a single chance on this planet that the only reason why he's nowhere near the first team is because of form/injury. The way Clough speaks of him is nothing short of a disgrace, whether he wants to play him or not.

Big time. The man is petty and over-sensitive.

Just done an average s24su rating for Collins last 10 games and it was 5.77.

For Mceveley it is 5.77

The very big difference is that Collins is a leader on the pitch and had an obvious working relationship with the captain, not always amicable but sound. We have few leaders on the pitch and miss Collins.

Maybe he was a leader in the dressing room as well!!

Woody , we got that bloke from Palace , but it didn't work out , and imo was a bit of a panic loan. Don't think Collins is the right guy , and we tend to forget how many riks he has made , when been playing previously . In saying that the guy can only be a improvement to what we have got at the mo , with loss of form , injuries , suspensions.

CH and CF have been a issue since preseason , so it is nothing new.

Still a lot of points to play for , but Barnsley could be the main threat as they are brimming with confidence with the new manager syndrome. Blades will do it , but it could go down to the wire against Chesterfield . As it stands , pity its not away.

UTB.

Apologies Collins' average was 5.65., not a lot different. Both periods included good and bad games for the team.

It sounds like he maybe half tempted to bring Collins back.

Although really with the lack of defensive cover we have he may not have a choice anyway.
