Brilliant work by the lads again winning tonight, another clean sheet, lets keep it going Blades!

Well done Blades.
Another BIG win!

Just shows what 3 or 4 wins can do in this league.

If we can get a cheeky win at MK on Saturday then see where it takes us.

The league is very unbalanced this season. We can push up further but Posh on current form may well get 77 points.

Another 39 points from 15 games is virtually impossible.

If only we hadn't employed that nob Weir. But as they say no Weir, no Clough so just be thankful we have him.

But still only 6pts above a relegation spot, just shows how tight league one is. On present form any worries we had should soon be over.

fair point, it is tighter than a ducks butt, so not out of trouble yet and MK dons and Peterborough will be v tough games, but then again they should be fearful of our form aswell.

Yes Yes Yes, made decent amount of space now between us and the bottom 4, keep up this momentum and hopefully we can stick in the top 10 ;)

Cheers.

No disrespect to mk and p boro but we beat villa fulham and forest and there all better than them 2 so come on u red and white wizardssssssssss

Absolutely lovely to be able to breathe easy for the first time this season. We're not safe by a long shot but to go down after being 6 points clear and having 2 games in hand would take a fuck up of epic proportions that surely even we aren't capable of.

53 points for safety should do it and we'll quite comfortably get 15 points from the next 15 games. Think play-offs are out of reach as all the current top 6 are quite capable of reaching 80 points (and we can only get a maximum of 83), but to finish 9th or 8th after the start we had would be utterly brilliant. I honestly cannot wait for pre-season next season to start, we have a lot to get excited about.

Playing devils advocate here and stepping out of my pessimistic box. Your sums for Posh are taken over the season so far i.e. points per game from game 1 transposed through to the last game. But since we drew with them when they were top their points per game ratio has dropped dramatically. I don't know what they did in the window or since but even with a ratio of 1.5 points per game which takes into account their drop in form this is around 71 -72 points. To match that we would need around 2.3 points per game 10 wins 4 draws and 1 loss. Not impossible if we win all our home games and get good results from a few away games. One of the home games being against Posh. So not quite as impossible as you suggest but with a massive caveat. Walsall can catch them as can Swindon and MK Dons. We would have to outstrip all of these as well which makes the task probably impossible as these clubs do not need as high a ratio as us to catch and outstrip Posh. Therefore 4 clubs would have to remain on lower points ratios. So very unlikely indeed.

Posh have taken 13 points from their last 6 games (like us) so have dramatically improved their form plus they took 5 new players in who are easily good enough for this league. They score a lot of goals and in my opinion they are an absolute shoe-in for the top 6. I can't see anyone else getting into that top 6. Walsall, MK Dons definitely not good enough.
  • In: Conor Washington from Newport - undisclosed fee and exchange
  • In: Jack Baldwin from Hartlepool - £500,000
  • In: Ricardo Santos - free
  • In: Ben Nugent from Cardiff - loan
  • In: Josh McQuoid from Bournemouth - loan
A step too far for us as well. Next year though, fingers crossed.

Okay with that ratio we could not catch them and it would be more than the 77 points originally mentioned as that's over 2 points per game (promotion form). They will clear 80. Even if Posh had dropped I doubt we could have overhauled all of the others.

I've just had a look and they only have 3 of the top 8 to play: we play 7 of the top 8.

I will eat my hat if we get an extra point per game than Posh for the rest of the season ;)

clough has got the players playing credit to them all.

And a lot of people were saying Weir should get more time. I bet they don't think that now!

Kept a look out for their results since Mr Hagan moved there. Off to light the gas mantle and congrats lads for another win.

I guess the thing is that we are looking at it due to the way that Nigel has turned the club around and that's probably more than enough this season. Its not an aim or aspiration but that fact that it is even possible to look at it after the season we have had is amazing. I look at where we are now (and Cloughy wants more) with the flying Scotsmen and the shored up defence and exciting attacks and there is no relation to the first part of the season. I just hope we can keep key players next season. I doubt we will have Harry who has been a massive part of this season in keeping clean sheets. But with the money we would get for him hopefully we could encourage Brayford to stay for the ride and get in a competent replacement for Harry with some other additions. We should be able to keep the flying Scotsmen, the fullbacks and the majority of the spine bar Harry.
