Nice one DB. I was lucky enough to be in the players lounge last night, and was sat next to Gary Sinclair during the game; I had to ask him which exit it was and all!

Was sat right behind the dugout and was perplexed when Madine got sent off. I thought it was a yellow; a daft challenge but certainly not a red card offence.

Couldn't work out Hogan, think he's still trying to fit into the shape. Couple of times we could have done with him coming out wide to give the full backs an option.

Was chatting to a manager in the bar who was obviously on a scouting mission. I asked (mainly out of fear) who he was here to scout, luckily he said it was Maupay he was here to watch! Maybe not so lucky for Maupay as I thought he was rather ineffective.

Strangely today the red card didn't lift the crowd, I think it stunned everyone. Bit of a strange decision, but it brought about one of the best defensive displays I've seen at the Lane.

Even when things aren't going for us we're getting results. Bring on Leeds. UTB.

Fixed that for you.

Sorry but I’ve worn out my doffing cap on all the other wonderful teams around us. My forelock is tugged out beyond repair and awaiting a transplant at the Shane Warne clinic.

Luckily there are plenty of others around who are ever keen to have their opinions conditioned rather than attempt original thought and, of course, to provide the customary adulation.

Does O'Connell get an extra half mark given that he got the assist for the Didsy's goal rather than Egan.

I voted Hendo for MoM, but in hindsight JOC should have got it - he was immense all game, but especially in the last 10 (after I had voted)

Dis Clarke get 9.5/10 for the 4 goals vs Hull? There was a moment towards the end of the game where I wondered whether Deadbat would give 10/10, as JOC was magnificent, but then I realised that this probably isn’t ever going to be an accolade any player will receive!

He would have had to have scored a hat-trick too :)

I’ll do my best to avoid this thread turning into another “Pinchy is mean” one, as we have enough of those already. Just, I think you’ve picked up on something that’s not there, basically. If you want to talk about something there specifically, then go ahead. But all I read in your comment is snark. And for me, a Blade living far away from the Lane for many many years, things like Deadbat’s report, the Blades Pod, Roy’s View From etc. help me connect. It’s a golden age of Blades content, and it’s in my interests to defend such content from snarky, condescending comments. If I’ve misread your intentions, then apologies. UTB

Anyone thinking that wasn't a red should ask themselves what their reaction would have been if Maupay had made the same challenge on one of our players

Thanks again, Deadbat . A couple of very minor points:

1. For once I felt confident as Norwood took his penalty. Now you remind us of the horror penalty v Hull, which I had forgotten about, and I will never trust him again.:(
2. You reminded me that at the time I wondered about the legality of Henderson's up-and-under. The sequence was as follows, I think - rubbish bouncing back-pass, which he can't handle, kicks the ball high up in the air in the goal area, when it comes down he punches it away. If he can't handle the original back-pass, surely he can't kick the ball in the air and then handle it? Anyone on here know for sure? An indirect free-kick would have been another bizarre element in a strange game.

My apologies. I’ll revert immediately to telling Deadbat how wonderful he is. I don’t think he knows.

Make sure you tell my wife please. I am sick of the spare room

Full credit to you Deadbat for these wonderful match reports. As a kid I always looked forward to the detailed reports in the Green 'Un. They were always good; they were always thorough, but no where near as good or as comprehensive as yours. Take a bow mate - and ignore the odd (very ODD) snipes coming at you from Trolludites.
