I'm kind of glad that's our final game. It seems we rested all the Under 18s and played a mix of trialists, Under 16s and our regular threesome Reed ,Brooks and Kelly. Graham Kelly seemed to have a free reign to push up front and we should have been 3 or 4 up after 20 mins. It was clear that we were vulnerable to long balls over the rear 3 or 4. Not sure what we were playing but there was little cover across the back line.
Crewe had a lad Udoh who kept us on our toes. We were enjoying Brooks running at them and if he had scored it would have made my day We did score from Greaves but after Crewe scored from a soft penalty I felt they grew into the match. As usual they play the ball well and probably deserved to score when they did. We pushed to get level but in truth it looked like a game too many
The Under 18s will play a final at the Lane next week against Coventry, who are a good side and it will be a great game that our youngsters can win So do try and get along to give them the support they deserve.
